yes indeed it is turning out more difficult than i originally thought. I used the pep file from here:
Winged Crafts: V for Vendetta Mask
Be warned that when you download this file, the creator has messed up the upload and it is actually 1.5 times the size of a normal human head. I found this out after I printed it out and was more than halfway through the cutting process. it ends up about this big:
And did not open with my pepakura designer at all. It was a bit of a nightmare to assemble and does not resemble an actual mask in shape (note the way the jawline tapers to the chin, which the correct mask does not). Other problems i faced was that during the resining process the paper i used did not absorb the resin and thus failed to adhere to the fiberglass well. Some of the edges of the mask are now freeing themselves from the fiberglass due to this lack of adhesion.
A friend of mine managed to open the file with his designer and i changed the dimensions but it came out too small. The size is actually fine but as i mentioned previously, the jawline is too tapered in, therefore even if my forehead fits the mask, my jowls don't. Maybe i have fat jowl's idk :/ Also I think due to the paper i used ( i used normal 250 gsm matte printer paper, thus i don't know what the hell else i am supposed to use) the variant of bondo available in my country, standard auto body filler, is also failing to adhere well to the paper. This is happening especially around the edges and some cracks have started to form.
anyway these are some of the issues. I wanted to create a new thread but I can't take pictures as monsoon has started here and lighting in general is terrible. I hope you can avoid these issues in your build, most notably the sizing and dimension problem. I feel making a sculpt and then casting it would have been a much easier process but that is just my opinion. good luck.
Also if some knowledgeable gents could assist me with some of these issues that would be awesome.
