What is your favorite movie mistake?

Rambo First Blood part 2. When Rambo hijacks the Huey chopper, you can clearly see the writing on the switches is in English and not Russian. Also when he pics up the LAWS rocket launcher when he blows up the Russian Hind chopper, a quick shot shows him holding a russian RPG that he used on the Sanpan boat, which is a completely different bazooka.

In Rambo 3, although its not a mistake more like a folly you can see a stars and stripes flag on the Russian chopper that Rambo steals from the Russian fort.

ALso in The Last Action Hero, when you see the two cars have a head on impact in the alley, you can clearly see the cables used for pulling the two cars in the water.

The whole Huey itself is a mistake (guess it's more of a "cheat" like the Top Gun MiG 28s)... Unless it was supposed to be a "hijacked" US Huey (from the Vietnam War) that was repainted in Soviet colours. Not to mention the POWs in the back are completely unaffected by the backblast of the "LAW" rocket.

Never noticed that before- that's hilarious! :lol

i love the little boy at the end of bttf3 when doc gives marty the picture on the train after the delorean is smashed - watch the little boy point to the production people towards his manhood indicating he needs to have a wee - cant believe they left it in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq5-6PkVGCg

approx 20 secs in watch him indicate he has a problem lol and then points to the source of his issue ;)

Kev,

:)

think my fave movie mistake is the ferrari in Ben hur in the chariot race sequence, obviously cut now but brilliant :lol

For me every time a weapon is fired in the Star Wars franchise and misses. I mean, come on, THEY'RE LASERS. Think about it.

Also, of all the times I've seen Raiders of The Lost Ark, I can't believe I had to have this one pointed out to me:

For whatever reason, Ronald Lacy who played Major Toht in the film was not available for this scene.....his stand-in is a poorly constructed dummy!

^so they put a dummy in the car by mistake? It was unintentional, but somehow, boom, a dummy is there?

(sigh, I guess I'll just have to accept the definition of mistake is going to be broad as all get out in this thread :lol)

I want to play, but I can't think of my favorite movie mistake. My favorite type, or the one I notice most often? When in an over-the-shoulder shot, you can see the actor's jaw moving as he/she speaks, but there's no sound (or the movements don't match the words).

The one that really makes me want to slap a Foley artist is the "ratcheting cylinder" sound added to all revolvers. Followed closely by "thumb-cocking a Glock."

OK, one more. Speaking of Blue Thunder, in the Blu-ray release, when Cochrane takes off without clearance to go after Murphy, we no longer hear him say "Thank you!" It's a travesty, I tell you.

Seriously you could include almost every frame of Arnies Commando.

This is true and of course the all time definition of never having to reload when he grabs the belt fed machine gun and in the next 5-10 cuts the belt length is radically different in each one. Plus he never lets off the trigger.

Thinking about Arnie though reminded me of my other favorite movie mistake which I always notice only because I lived there and walked this street to and from school every day of High School. From twins when Arnie is looking around Hollywood for Danny he is all over the place. When ever they show someone cruising Hollywood Blvd they constantly change directions and pop between opposite ends of the Blvd in a random order. Drives me nuts!

While on the topic of geographic inconsistencies even though it was not a movie and in the end it was a dream sequence their is a scene from NCIS LA where "G" (Chris) starts chasing a perp from a graveyard then up a block into the Kodak Centre. Well the Cemetery is about 10-15 blocks W. from the Kodak centre and 2 blocks S. This brings to light my other pet peeve is in any foot chase the chaser in one scene in about 20 feet behind the chasie. Next cut he is right on his heels. Cut again and he has lost him. I mean give me a break!

Ok two more and I am done unfortunately one is not movie related but still I think we all should know it. G.I.Joe the original animated series. "A highly trained special missions force." And they could not hit a single cobra! unless it was a robot or vehicle but then they had to make sure the Cobra guy got out safely. I mean either their training sucked or was Superb in the fact that they always shot to miss.

Last one and it was made into a movie so it counts.
West Side Story. Our hero runs through the streets of Spanish Harlem yelling Maria Maria Maria... and only one girl looks out her window. Think about it....

First that comes to mind is the truck chase scene from T2. Truck jumps off the bridge, hits the ground and the windscreens very clearly fall out. Next cut to T1000 driving and the glass is back in place.

Filmmakers are far more concerned with telling a particular story than getting geographical locations right (the majority of the time, anyway). Besides, they assume 99.9% of the audience won't be familiar with the location(s) and won't notice. I've lost count of the number of movies I've seen in which someone is driving through downtown Los Angeles one moment and the next they're suddently at Los Angeles International Airport; believe me, under the best of circumstances that's a 20-30 minute drive.

It always bothers me in Raiders of the Lost Arc when Indy and Marion are escaping from the well of souls, the large stone that they push away to get out noticeably bounces when it hits the ground.

Yup. It would take TONS of time and MONEY to get enough takes of every line that were both good performances AND "geographically correct" in such a scene. You're quintupling the cost of the scene easily.

And besides, it's a work of fiction. In THIS fictional universe, Hollywood Blvd. has stores arranged that way.

I always got a kick out of the bouncing rock in Raiders. You can see its shadow on the wall after Indy pushes it out to escape the Well of Souls. :lol

So many films, so little time.

Lethal Weapon: Murtaughs ever shifting gear lever when he and Riggs are driving out to the house for the pool scene.

Lethal Weapon 2: Riggs is shooting one of the South Africans in the cargo hold of a ship and fires like 20 shots, but when he reaches the guy, there's not a bullet hole in him nor a blood splatter on the wall and he puts another bullet in him.

Terminator: When they blow up the fuel tanker towards the end, you can see the cable towing the scale model towards the camera just before the cab explodes.

T2: The exploding truck. Diesel will not explode from a spark from a battery terminal, it takes a naked flame because of the higher flash point.

A Nightmare On Elm Street (the remake): MISTAKE, period.

Rampage: The picture in front of the guy at Bingo. Goes from a half completed doodle to a completed picture and back and forth 3 or 4 times.

That'll do for now, I'm sure more will come to me.
