What is your favorite batmobile ever?

The thing I like about the '66 and '89 Batmobiles is that they look retro and futuristic at the same time. You could drop them into almost any era, and they wouldn't look too out of place. The only thing that "dates" the '66 is the five-spoke mag wheels--they scream 1960s-70s.

Those mags are amazing.. I feel like I wanna put them on my jetta wagon

The Tumbler is not my favorite by any means, but I did understand why it was there. In the Nolanverse that vehicle did have more practicality. Except for that stupid bit where it sucks you down into the dashboard to fire the guns or whatever. That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen! In the first place it would be physically impossible to do that. I mean, where do your legs go? You would literally be bent in half to do that! The only way it would work was if, during ALL driving, you body was positioned in the 'motorcycle' position. And it was already established that you are not. You just sit in it like a regular car.

That part, for me, was just totally ridiculous!
That's one of the things I didn't like about the Tumbler. In addition to the issues you mentioned, at least once they showed Bats shifting to that prone position while he was supposed to still be driving and all I could think was, "How can he see where he's going?" So, yeah, dumb idea.

Listen, I'm a child of the 60s and 70s and that style of five-spoke mag is still my favorite. But they're still dated, and those Rader/Radir wheels put the Barrismobile squarely into the 1960s style-wise.

The wheels dated the Barris car along with about 500 other things about it.

I love vintage muscle cars as a whole but the Barris car is overrated IMO. The styling screams early/mid-1960s. IMO cars from those years are aging much worse than the stuff from later in the decade.

The Keaton car, with all its practical drawbacks, has timeless styling.

Do video games count?

If not, I still love the 89 Keaton Batmobile. It still is the most iconic.

Not only that--what was the purpose of it anyway? Is the targeting computer built into the floor or something?

The laying down thing would make a jump landing impact much easier on your spine. Doing a jump in a Tumbler in a regular sitting position is asking for cracked vertebrae. The driver might be breaking even if the vehicle itself is withstanding it.

Hollywood drivers wear a special harness for big vehicle jumps. It's uncomfortable & takes time to put it on. Not practical for the caped crusader. Stunt guys only wear it long enough to do the jump shot.

Well now that does make sense for the jumping stuff, but it seemed to me he only went down in that position to fire the guns.

I believe I read in a Nolan interview somewhere that the purpose of the prone position puts your face as close to the front center, close to the road as possible, and that somehow makes speeding through difficult to maneuver areas easier. Notice he does it when he's trying to navigate through quite a bit of traffic on the highway. It really doesn't make much sense how the seating would put you in that position, but the idea was to give the driver a maneuverability advantage.

Tumbler is my favorite, but the 89 is pretty, though completely impractical beyond about 30mph and good luck if you hit a speed bump.
