What is the Best 'Loki Mask' Replica (The Mask, 1994)?

Years ago, there were Loki Mask replicas all over the place online. Now, all that's left is ReelArt and some other screen inaccurate mass produced mask with straps on the back.

Any idea where to get the most accurate Loki Mask, these days? Who makes the best one?

Sadly you're a bit late to the party.

Someone on the forum was selling castings out of the studio mold.

That was a year or two back.

That was a first Gen pull of a production made mask (y)

I think that mold is now kaput

I think that was Peter17647.

I bought a mask from him, and I'm still waiting for it to turn up...

I realize this isn't exactly what you are looking for but looks (to me anyway) close. It would have to be 3D printed and painted.

Loki Mask

That is exactly the one I printed and painted. It's REALLY nice and super close!

While the basic shape is good, it is pretty "soft". Looks like a low res scan.

You'll want to check that model. I found it to be a VERY high-res scan. My 80,000 coats of paint did soften things a bit. :)

So I ended up getting a Loki Mask off someone online, recently. The guy's had it for years, and he did the paint job on it, which looks incredible and is the most screen-accurate I'd ever seen. He based it on shots in the film, and mainly the videos from PropStore when they sold some originals way back when.

The Mask looks amazing, the dimensions match the film and the ones sold on PropStore, and it's super solid but not too heavy. The details are crisp and vivid.

I am so happy with it, and I've had 3 previous Masks. None of them were this good.

Here's my problem - I'm 99% sure it's an old Golden Armor Mask. The fact that I had to file down a bit of the edge on the back, and the mouth shape is a dead-giveaway that it's Golden Armor.

Why do I feel so dirty being happy with this even though it's likely GoldenArmor? Is it possible this is the one thing they make that doesn't suck?

Are there any issues with these?

I saw this on ebay recently! I was going to get this, but like you said, it looks like golden armor's. Nothing wrong with the mask if you're fine with it. I love the pain job that's been done to it. Personally, I don't like these types of masks simply because of the mouth. I found two people on Instagram that make loki masks that have a more smile/smirk in the mouth area. If you don't mind, could you post your other masks?

I talked him way down on the price - the seller was super cool and negotiable. I didn't know it was likely a Golden Armor. The seller bought it from someone, so I don't think he knew either. All he knows is that the paint-job was crap, so he removed as much as he could and did it himself.

It's been so long since I'd seen an actual Loki Mask that isn't the cheap ones from China on eBay or anywhere (Hence my initial start of this thread).

The paint-job is absolutely amazing, honestly. The mouth is the only part of this Mask that I'd consider 'inaccurate', but honestly, it's not that noticeable to me.

The rest of the Mask from its size, to the paint, the crispness of the details, etc. It's nearly perfect.

I've also accepted that even if I got one with the mouth 100% perfect - the Mask wouldn't be painted this good and I lack the skills to replicate it. And I think paint-job is far more important (for me).

I don't regret buying this one, even a little...even if it's a secondhand Golden Armor. Least I didn't give them money lol

If you don't mind, could you post your other masks?
I'd have to dig them out - we're talking 10-15 years ago for some of them lol

I had a ReelArt one back when I had no idea he was a recaster. And his Loki Mask is so dang tiny. The other two were fiberglass ones that were awful.

There's a guy out of Brazil that you mentioned makes good ones. I'd bite on the '94 film replica - but the paint job just isn't the same caliber, even though the mouth is perfect.

I am buying the comic Mask replica, though!

Update - turns out, my new Mask is NOT Golden Armor. Praise the Gods!

The inside rim is too thin to be GA's on the left side of the Mask, for one.

And I was told it looked like this prior to the current paint-job, which I remember this maker selling these in the mid-2000s. I think it may have been the main one Golden Armor tried to recast.

I remember wanting this one even with it's weird paint-job.

Woot! Not Golden Armor!

It's the perfect Mask, now. (My new one above, not the attached image one)

I'm unfortunately such a perfectionist that I take notice in such little details lol it can be exhausting. I'm honestly probably going to use your mask as an example when I paint mine, it's just so good!

I bought from him too actually! My mask broke during transit in one of the corners though unfortunately, thankfully, he said he would replace it if I bought one from the comics or TAS. I took the animated series in a heartbeat lol. There's also another guy in Brazil that makes them too funny enough. His link is https://www.instagram.com/maskara.o?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==

Also, does loki.mask respond to you relatively quickly? I inquired about getting the masks in January, and although he did say he was backed up with masks, it's now March without any correspondence, making me itch lol

I remember seeing that specific one in a youtube video about a decade ago. Would look like the one GA would recast just due to it's mouth, but thankfully you have a more "real" prop. Congrats!

Here's some better photos to help with your own paint job -

(Note: Since I received it, I took the gloss down quite a bit on it. It was nice, but way too shiny to the point where it did a disservice to the paint job).

He honestly responded to me super quickly. Though, he said he has to make a new mold for the comic Mask. But yes, he was quick to respond - maybe follow-up with him, for sure.

He replied to my first message within 3 minutes.

I didn't get a notification for this, sorry for the late response lol thank you so much, I'm trying to find the right paint mixture, but man is it a trial and error thing, I think these pics will help a lot. That's also a reason I was wary of buying it, it was a very glossy piece lol a matte coating seems like it would've been better

Interesting about loki.mask. He followed up with me a few times, but it's been about 2/3 weeks without any reply back. I went to his ad listing of the mask on this Brazil website, and it said the ad was paused. I'm afraid he's moved on. Has he made any recent contact with you by chance?

Hello everyone, I stumbled upon your topic by chance. I'm sharing with you my replica of the mask that I bought maybe 15 years ago. I know it's not perfect, but at the time I didn't see the details that I see today. I'm looking for a new, more acruate version. But I'll keep the one that has sentimental value.

And here are some photos I took with my phone, of poor quality. The cinema museum in Lyon, France. They have a replica of the film.
