What Are Your All Time Favorite Video Games?

I've only ever been an occasional gamer, and never owned a console that wasn't an obsolete artifact someone donated (someone just gave me a PS2!), but...

1. Pitfall (Atari)
2. Super Mario Bros (NES)
3. Blackthorne (SNES) I now see that it was kind of repetitive, but it had some of the first game violence I was exposed to, which was a hoot, and as a novice gamer it was easy enough for me not to get to mad at but challenging enough that it was fun.
4. Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis)
5. The Jungle Book (Genesis) I have such good memories of me and my sister trying to figure out how to beat King Louie!
6. Dark Forces (PC). In 1996, I think it was, my buddy down the hall had the only really good computer in our whole dorm at my small college, and we'd huddle down there playing this, as well as number 7, for hours. Good times.
7. Rebel Assault. What a blast I had with that one. Again, as an occasional gamer, I was able to enjoy it without getting so frustrated I thought I'd break things.
8. Street Fighter ex plus Alpha (PS1) My brother gave me his PS and this game maybe eight years ago, and not really being a gamer I brought it into my classroom for my students to play at lunch. Little did I know that I began a tradition of challenging students and other teachers that would continue to this day. When that PS broke, when controllers broke, students brought in their old gear just so we could continue our Street Fighter duels. My best friend, a teacher down the hall, plays with me after school all the time, and for some reason it never gets old. When we've had a rough day, which is often, a little SF soothes us to no end, and we have great conversations as we now almost automatically go through our moves. It's pretty zen. In a fighting way. Yeah...

I remember Blackthorne. That one was pretty cool. They had it for PC as well.

And I totally forgot about Dark Forces and Rebel Assault. Loved both when they first came out.

I'm almost 42 years old now, and I remember playing every single game you have mentioned there!!!! The football game were just red lines, Battlezone was great with the 2 joysticks (we don't call them controllers!, they are joysticks!) watch out for the super tanks! The Adventure game was cool moving from room to room, and Space Ace was the sequal to Dragon's Lair. Haven't seen any of them in a long time.

I'll have to second Star Control 2. I had it on the 3DO and it was just amazing.

You know it was re-released for PC -- for free, no less -- as the 3DO version, right?

And man, SC3 was SUCH a friggin' downer afterwards. I wish those guys would make a REAL sequel. Sadly, I don't think there's enough of a market to do such a game justice...

Ace Combat series

Sadly, I only played Ace Combat 6 (the one that came out for 360), but I loved it. It's ESPECIALLY cool with the "Ace Edge" joystick+throttle combo.

The football game were just red lines,
There was nothing as exhilarating as running past all the guards from one side of the screen to the other, then pop up on the other side for a touch down. I stole it from my brother and used to play it under the covers to the wee hours on school nights...sleep...pffft...who needed sleep?

They had this in the bowling alley where my parents would bowl on their league and I would just hang out in the "arcade" until they were done.
I found that if you just keep going to the right, you could turn one quarter into 10-15 mins. of action packed game play.

The Adventure game was cool moving from room to room,

Did you ever find the secret room in the labyrinth/ maze?

Space Ace was the sequal to Dragon's Lair.

Well, they speak for themselves.

I think I liked them so much because they were animated by Don Bluth....one of my absolute favorites! :thumbsup

Space Ace was NOT the sequel to Dragon's Lair. Dragon's Lair II was the sequel to Dragon's Lair, followed by Dragon's Lair III. Space Ace, however, was the same company.

Anyone know if those games are available on Xbox yet, by the way?

Well, Dragon's Lair 3D is available on XBox, but not the vintage game. It's actually a pretty cool 3rd person, realtime game.

It's great seeing some of these old games I forgot about. That football game was great. :lol The Colecovision was cool too. I loved Defender but couldn't remember the name. I have to find my Coleco and see what games I still have.

Am I the only one that liked Castlevania for the NES? Too many other games to list.

The Dragon's Lair games were made by Sega here in San Diego. When they went under a buddy bought a whole stack of Laserdisc players from them. They all had the disc for the game still in them. I think he still has a stack of the discs.

Anyone interested in one email me, I might be able to get you one.
