Weta offering CHEMRAIL Rifle from Elysium

I wonder if there's a deliberate familiy resemblance between this and the weapons in Avatar?

I can't order it for delivery in Canada; there is something to do with the replica gun law. I'll have to order through an agent in Canada with permit to import airsoft...

Well i cant order it anyway, there is a problem/glitch with wetas website.

it says i have -$1.48 weta dollars

when i go to the checkout it just loops on this page with the weta dollars section in red.

i have informed them but its not fixed.

I know, I've been trying to get some rep indiana pistols here in the UK and my goodness is is hard. Even just resin replicas are a nightmare to get hold of. It's so ironic that I could go down our local gun shop and just pick up a decom without any questions asked yet for a resin replica you need to prove its for stage, museum/gallery or historical reenactment.
Forget about imports, too much trouble.
Anyone know of anywhere in the uk?

Very disappointed, I was looking forward owning this rifle..

As was I. I thought these things were to be 3d printed so they had to be done in small quantities anyway.

i did not pre order one after all, after seeing the movie.

one of the worst films i've ever seen, no wonder the interest in this gun dried up.

I feel part of the fault Weta didn't receive enough preorders is their own fault on how their preorder process is done. I tried to preorder the rifle but ran into a road block. Because my credit card was almost maxed out and there wasn't a full $400 cleared on the card my preorder was rejected even though my card wasn't going to be charged at the time. I emailed them asking to be put on their list and telling them the card would be cleared by the time came for shipping the rifle.....even offering a small deposit as good faith but they rejected both requests too. I wasn't about to run out and basically spend $400 toward my credit card to clear enough money on it just to preorder something when the money was needed elsewhere at the time. Might have been some similar cases for others who wanted to order the rifle too...perhaps not alot but the extra numbers could have perhaps made a difference.
I'd still like to have the rifle regardless of how well or bad the movie was.

It's a cool gun and all, but the movie just didn't cut it. Distric 9 was a classic sci-flick, the weapons were hella cool, and a big part of the movie. Elysium was pretty much a misfire, and the Chemrail was only just more than a blink and you miss it prop. A shame, but I'm far from surprised.

Add me to the list of people very disappointed, but not surprised. It looks an awful lot like a real world tactical rifle. I have a buddy also into guns who thought it was just a modified SCAR rifle until I showed him the making of video.

I enjoyed the film, I didn't love it like I loved District 9, but I certainly don't hate the movie. I love the props, and I still like Niell Blomkamp as a writer and director plenty enough to look forward to his next flick.
