WETA: District 9 Guns

My two are out for delivery today! (Weta is apparently working with Dark Horse for US dellivery, and Dark Horse is in Milwaukie OR, just a stone's throw from my place.)

As far as the possibility of another run, never say never, but Weta has been pretty solid as far as limiting previous prop runs to the initially stated numbers, and I don't believe they've 'reissued' anything.

my card has not been charged, any u.k. members get an e-mail or anything?

Hi everyone

We hope you enjoy your Arc Generator weapons ! I'd like to answer a few of your questions :

No, we will not be offering another production run of these. We will stick with the limited edition. We do have a waiting list. E-mail us at info@wetaNZ.co.nz

Yes, there will be slight differences between the weapons you receive and the prop which one of you has purchased. In fact, there are also differences between each of the props used in the movie. We believe any military force would have weapons which are a combination of different models and which have suffered different battle damage and which have been repaired differently. So we create our props accordingly. We would rather have realism, than conformity. So when we created these replica weapons for sales, there was not one exact prop we could copy.

So come to Comic Con and chat about this with Greg Broadmore (who designed the weapons) and Dave Tremont (who helped create the replicas). We are at booth #2615. And while you are there, check out the sample pages of the new "Art of District 9 - Weta Workshop" book, which will be coming out in November.

Also, be aware the 3rd D9 full size weapon will be on display at Comic Con, and is opening for pre-orders very soon.

In terms of delivery timing, we include the latest shipping estimates at the bottom of our newsletters, so make sure you are signed up for them. The latest timing for the Arc Generator is : US warehouse - mid July, UK - late Aug, NZ warehouse - mid Aug.

See you at Comic Con

Cheers

can you say which gun it will be?

i know it wont be another gas projector :wacko

It's really solid, but not overly heavy. The detailing and weathering looks great to me, although I'm sure those with skills can mod it to be even more amazing. I haven't checked it yet for screen accuracy although I don't think anything will be revealed that would bother me much. I've just had a huge grin the whole time I've been handling it. Definitely worth the price.:D :thumbsup

Oh, here's the (pretty basic) hanging hardware.

OK, here it is! (And I love it!)

thanks for the pics, really impressed by the finish, the likes of sideshow can only dream of putting items this well done out these days, which is a shame.

well done weta!

p.s. i hope the end piece moves out, i see a screw there :unsure

Pretty basic indeed. I'll have to place the ol' thinking cap on and come up with something a little more visually stimulating to hang mine. That being said, I still have yet to decide on display placement. I'm lacking the wall space.

OK, I'm holding my gun and looking at rkpetersen's pictures and I can tell you, my gun and the master for these replicas came from the same mold. The CnC marks line up! This might be the best replica ever made! Well done Weta! Looks like you guys knocked this one out of the park!

I feel a HUGE sigh of relief! All I wanted was for those CNC marks to 1) be on the replica and 2) to line up. Weta, you rock and we love you! I was so afraid we were going to get a sanitized gun and couldn't be happier that we didn't! (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Here is a quick compare. I see a few minor differences in some of the details, but again, my main concern was that the gun was going to be sanitized. So thrilled and can't wait for mine to arrive on Monday!

Ahh this is great news! It looks fantastic, and I'm really grateful it appears to have been taken from the original molds! Weta you know how to look after your fans...

Can't wait to see what they have in store for the next gun

Does it come with any kind of COA/edition number document?

You know, there wasn't any documentation of any kind in the box; I just checked again.

Which, for a licensed replica, is passing strange. Perhaps mine was missing? :confused

Or they just didn't bother, which would be... refreshing. :lol
