Limited edition of 10.
What you will receive

Your sword will be carefully packed in a beautiful wooden display case for the safest possible delivery.

You will further receive a DVD about the making of the Master Swordsmith's collection, featuring interviews with Master Swordsmith Peter Lyon, Tolkien artist and illustrator John Howe and Weta Workshop's Creative Director, Richard Taylor.

A Certificate of Authenticity signed by Richard Taylor and Peter Lyon will also be enclosed.

Amazing. Very expensive, but hand-forged by the man himself.

Holy smokes, the future jewel in my collection crown.........Are you allowed to sell your kids on ebay?!!??!??

I read on Sword Forum that Glamdring, Sting and Strider's sword are planned next. This makes sense, as the video focuses on Sting and teases the other two at the end.

if the edition number is 10, the sword is worth far more than 6K considering they are exact counterparts to the screen swords. Made by the same swordmaster. Good stuff. :)

Agreed. Watch the video and what goes into making Sting -- that has to be at least 40-60 hours of work. At $100ish an hour, suddenly the price doesn't seem so crazy.

The hourly rate to work on my M3 is north of $150.

I'm an "upmarket" guy. Always going to be impressed with this stuff over mass-produced stuff stamped out in a Chinese factory. I understand every collector can afford differing levels of quality, but why wouldn't every LOTR fan want this, the very best? I'd happily trade every UC product off my shelves for one of these.

I will be getting Strider's sword, definitely.

I'd be honored if I were one of the people to get one of these. And I agree with Riskbreaker: I don't see why any fan wouldn't want one of these. Yeah, it's frustrating to know that there are pieces out there that I'll NEVER be able to own, but the fact that a uber-limited run made by Lyon himself was made available to the public (albeit the super rich and lucky) makes me happy.

Even with the price tag, I have a feeling the line will be long for only ten of each! What an amazing opportunity for LOTR fans!

What took you guys so long to see this announcement? :p

But yes, it is about time! Those fine guys and gals over at the Workshop put their hearts and souls into that show... so it makes sense they have it back instead of, like, anyone else.

:thumbsup

I guess it's just not my thing. I'm not impressed. That's more than 2 weeks worth of pay for me not to mention 3 times my morgage payment. It's a beautiful piece, but awfully expensive for a wall hanger.

That's almost 5 months of work for me, after taxes. :confused
