Weekend Warrior's (I know ANOTHER one) Iron Man MK3 Build.

I fiberglassed the inside and was originally planning on using Bondo for the finish work but after seeing the fine detail in Surreal Studios build I decided to go with drywall compound.

I switched back to body filler long ago, I was having A LOT of issues with the drywall compound, it does not bond to the outside of the fiberglassed pep so over time it cracks and chunks pop off and I was unable to get the detail i was looking for with the drywall compound. This is why I remade my chest/back, all of my master parts are all made with body filler now. If you use in on your helm, when you go to cut it apart there will be a ton of repair needed. I would knock it off and stick with the filler, the compound is really easy to work with but sometimes the easiest route is not the best route:cry

Been there, tried that. There are few shortcuts and even fewer worth the risk of time, effort and money. Read Surreals threads and follow his advice and you will get results!

Well, discouraging backtracking aside I'm back on the right path. Stripped all the drywall mud off and applied proper body filler. Here's a pic after I stripped it:

And we're back in progress mode!

I got the forearm fiberglassed, it is now hard as a rock (and very heavy...) and started in on getting the proper filler on the helmet. Here's a progress shot:

Feeling good.

Now for this weekend's project of cleaning out the garage so I can finish setting up a proper workplace.

Wow the build looks great! Great job putting everything together.

Thank you so much, but I think you are the one who deserves the compliments, your models are simply amazing! Thank you so much for putting all the effort into perfecting them, I could never pull this off without the solid foundation you provided.

Well, HERE is the thread I started with the gallery links in it. I ended up with over 250 closeup shots of all of the suits and HD videos of each as well.

Now - back to the build!

Hey WW
I would like to thank you for accepting my pics request
The pictures are perfect
They helped me finish modelling my mkvii helmet that helagak will print soon
Keep up building !

Ok, it's been way too long since I posted an update.
Progress slowed for a bit there but I'm back on track. I've fiberglassed the entire left arm and am working on finishing it. Right now I have the hand plate DONE. Yup, done - the first finished part. I also have the shaping about 80% done on the forearm and just a bit of finishing and smoothing to go. So here are some pics.

The Forearm in progress:

And with a quick primer coat:

The whole arm:

(kinda cool because it is progressively more finished from the shoulder to the wrist)

And the completed handplate:

Been doing a little work on my Mjölnir build too.
