Watch collectors / appreciation thread

There really isn’t a wrong day for that watch is there?

That’s a great watch!

I had the white dial version of it in the 90’s. I sold it to finance my Planet Ocean.

I’m building a “Captain Willard” watch as a retirement gift for my captain. I’ll post it up when I’m finished!

This is my Omega Seamaster Professional Planet Ocean. This is the same model worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond in Quantum of Solace, and the same style, but smaller case, as the one he wore at the start of Casino Royale. Paired here with the NATO strap he wears in Spectre, it‘s a great mix of Craig-era watches.

Nice. I think the 42 will look better on me as well, but haven't tried one yet.

I have the 45.5, on the rubber strap, so exactly as first seen by him in the film. (also, like yours, the 2500 movement and aluminum bezel insert, which I prefer over the later, and current, ceramic insert)

My mainspring broke so I sent it off to be refurbished by Omega and have worn it sparingly since. Such a great piece. A bit thick for what it is, but legibility can't be beat, in light or darkness!

The stainless bracelet is okay, but really heavy. Even if he did wear it on the bracelet, I wouldn't have.

The earlier mentioned Seamaster GMT I had was also on the rubber double-deployant strap. The only one I had ever seen on that strap, but it was perfect! Until the rubber dry-rotted and fell apart... The Planet Ocean strap is a better/different material, although I've been through a few keepers.

I haven’t worn this in a while. I’ve been loving the “new” Omega Speedmaster X-33.

Anyway, have you ever heard of the actor Steve McQueen? No? Well, he did a bunch of movies. Anyway, his watch was the 1967 Rolex 5512. Not often seen without it- on, or off, screen. One sold at auction several years ago, so there were some good reference photos. His had the US version C&I made “rivet” bracelet. Here’s mine (also on a C&I with 1968 date code):

That’s beautiful. I feel like watches are like leather jackets. The more worn, the better.
