Warhammer 40k Space Marine build

Hi!
New member here, long time lurker. Decided it’s time I do something big. I’m no stranger to pepakura and EVA foam but never done something on this scale before.

It was a choice for me between Fallout power armour or Space Marine armour, in the end I decided to go with Space Marine.

Currently I have a pair of BIG boots made up in foam. Decided to go from the bottom and work my way up, and the boots looked the most difficult part with differing angles and curves (though I’m probably wrong)

Im using a mixture of pep files, scaled to 935 for me (6ft tall, yes. I will need stilts haha) I used some from jfcustoms foam files but found them quite complicated to work the foam to the contours and folds so I managed to find some i believe Henrik Pilerud used in his build which I found much easier! Both files are great to use but those just seem to go a bit easier for me.

Resources are more limited now as I didn’t realise obscurus crusade forum was now no more!

Anyway! I hope you all enjoy my space marine journey here! Here are the boots I’ve got so far. Not overly happy with the right hand boot, my skills are rusty from taking a long break! But I think I can live with it once I hide the seams and finish it!

Any feedback is massively appreciated

Progress is being made!

Managed to put together a shin piece last night but I’m not sure I’m happy with it yet, it looks too long back to front (if that makes sense).
Going to modify the pep files to split it down the sides so it will have a front panel and a rear panel. Hoping this gives me more fine tuning of the bends with them being smaller panels to work with rather than one massive bit.

If it goes well and I prefer it I will re make this leg.

And we have a pair of shins and kneepads. I did modify the pep files as I said in the previous post and got it printed out on size A0 paper so I didn’t have to cut and stick 30 sheets of a4 paper together.

It came out so much better once I added some darts to shape it but doesn’t match the first shin now so I will be remaking that eventually haha.

Onto the thighs and pelvis next and then the foundations of the bottom half is all built! Exciting!

Incredibly done, and it's just the beginning. Do you have the Pepakura files for the shoulders on hand, if it’s not too much to ask?

Progress has been slow since my last update. I have made a pelvis and it’s very flimsy, I also have made some stilts out of PVC pipe and taking some inspiration from where most of the inspiration of this build has come from, Sylgian.

His space marine is something of a wonder, So I have started constructing an inner skeleton out of tubing. Not PEX like he used but Polybutylene tubing as I found it more flexible and easier to work with.

The reason this update has taken some time is I have been testing some tee pieces and various angle connectors for the tubing with my 3D printer and this is what I have come up with. Also printed some feet for the stilts for easy connection to the base.

Hoping tomorrow I can get a skeleton made up for the pelvis!

A little bit more progress tonight. Finally got a skeleton made up inside the pelvis and I’m quite happy with that. It gives me good mounting points for the harness and legs etc.

Then the past week I’ve been slowly plugging away cutting out the patterns for the torso. I was worried about this step which is why it’s taken so long.

I’m fairly happy at how it’s turned out. My seams could still do with some work but I’m mostly happy with it. Caulk and filler will be my friend at the finishing stage!

It’s not fully complete but the basic pattern/shape is there. Needs the collar and arm holes finishing but ran out of time tonight!

Small update. I’ve done some testing on the knee joints and I think I’m up to a point where I’m happy with them. Here’s a picture of the bottom half all rigged up and knee joints in place. No walking test as of yet unfortunately as I need to wait for the glue to cure fully before I risk it.

The stilts have been mounted to the boots and just need to finish the details on the right toe before I mount those, completing the boots!

More foam work starts now, finishing up the torso, and making a start on the helmet and shoulders.

Exciting times!

Hey there brilliant build! have a qwu8ick question I just need to build some boots/feet do you have, or could you point me to where you got your templates please?

The pattern of armours we have look very similar, I have been given the base of a suit to build on :O
