Not me. I am not a huge fan of the Mark VII+ though, thank goodness you did a "Beaky" Marine helmet :)
[/b]

I'm not a huge fan of the Mk7+ either, but I'll probably start sculpting up one of them fairly soon as well.

Hell, my wife is going to kick my butt when this one shows up.....
[/b]

How's your butt holding up?

The bolter got here today (Tues).... My wife doesn't know it is here yet.... So the butt is still intact....

The bolter is as amazing as the pictures showed....

Great work. Thanks.

Oh yeah, I think I said I would post a picture or two of this, I still have work to do on the second one. This is a Rainbow Marine, chapter played by a fallen RL friend:

and

Not quite finished, I need to do a little trim, work on lighting and add finsh those grates. No clean up required on this one, just customization work.

Oh my, that is...colorful. Good to see one of these after the new owner got their hands on it though. If I remember correctly there was quite a stack of those and this is the first I have seen.

Looking sharp, man.

So far there are well over a dozen of these in circulation. I'm actually kinda hoping that more people will post pics of theirs painted.

In regards to the Vac formed Marine helmet that came up, I am working on a guy to find out where he got one. He has been pretty dodgy about details so far but I am getting the impression he is going to try to recast it. Before anyone asks, no it is not anyone on here, it is a 40k forum that it came up in. I am trying to talk him out of the recast thing and trying to find out where he got it.

Of course I get on this forum and have to read 12 pages of this thread as I am a huge 40K fan. But I love the work. Great job.

And I would love to help with a project to build full suits of Power Armor. (Financially of course since I have ZERO skills.).

So any weird words about the Vaccuformed Helmet?
[/b]

The other day I got an email with the following:

"I was looking at the helmet posts on the replica prop forum and you were asking about the vacuum formed helmet, I own one of them, they were from a Games Workshop project that was aborted here. I got it off ebay, the guy who was selling them was saying they were for some promotional item for the stores but GW canceled the project because they weren't happy with the end product. After the project was canceled the company eventually went out of business and the guy who put these up for sale bought a few boxes of them at an auction and put them up on ebay. Both sides of the helmet were on one sheet and it's left to the person buying to put them together, they aren't really big, your helmet is deeper and better quality by far."

So there you have it. Mine are still the best production Space Marine helmets out there...

Without a doubt yours are the best I have seen,
I am the guy that emailed you that pic, I was just trying to get one of each, I was going to take the plastic one and use it as a template and make a resin version of it.
And then save up some scratch and get one of your Badd @ss Bolters :)

LostRipper is the guy with the helmet. He can speak for himself but I misunderstood him. I get the impression he is using it as a base for some major mods to get close to something called accurate. Anything else you would have to ask him.

Indeed that is what I am planning on doing, I thought it looked like a good basis for a helmet, and it suprisingly enough is large enough for my big head, (7 5/8's)
With enough room to enable padding. :)
I want to have 1 of each helmet, (Mk2+Mk8(I think))
And one of those Owning bolters and then a whole set of armor that I am going to work on next and a chainsword.

Is it that big? I have a large noggin as well so I would be interested. When Thorssoli gets back from sea I will be looking at one of his as well.
Like I said on the other forums, if you need any help let me know.

I'm getting closer to finishing the full costume:

Finished006.jpg

I've started sketching out the chainsword so I can turn out a few of those next. The only problem is that I've gotten the call from my shipping company and I'll be going back to sea this weekend. So it looks like I'll be out of this business until late this summer. Oh well.

Hey Thorssoli, I thought I saw that your helmet was a bit on the smallish size (For My big Melon) but I couldnt find that post, could you let me know how big it was please?

I wear a size 7-1/4 hat and it's a bit tough to get my head through the neck hole. Once it's through, there's plenty of room inside. When I sculpt out the Mk7 helmet I'll be using the same helmet as a base and adding the big ring around the backside of the helmet. This should solve the small neck hole problem and add just a bit of room inside as well as increasing the height of the helmet.

For comparison, my MR clonetrooper helmets are an airtight fit on my head. I can't even smile when I'm wearing those. Conversely, my space marine helmets need quite a bit of padding before I stop looking like a bobblehead.

I hope this answers your question.
