Lol, if you're talking about what I think you are, I thought it looked like a spring assist like what is used on magnifier arms/ etc... That would make sense to me, but I'm probably way off.
You know what i noticed that this pep is kinda functional..i was wondering why the lower part of the top were the gun attaches to base of gun its not attached to arm..i know why..because as the arm moves up and down it pushes it in or out..you can see in the pictures the tip is vertical at all times..not sure if you understood but here are some pictures....i will be doing this fiber glassed then internals metal half inch tube...

also i noticed on some pictures of arm they show a spring under the arm maybe to help it up or something..i will be adding mine in..with the metal it should be able to hold it..It will be used like a shock almost so the whole gun and arm won't put stress on the back party of torso..that's just a thought though..I'm 80% sure it might work..lol..
You can see it I'm this picture..
Hope you understood everything i said I'm sick so i took some medicine..so i feel a little drowsy..so nomore cutting or hot gluing for me tonight..lol..

Looks really good. im in the process of makin an ironman statue rather than a suit
That's what I'm thinking of doing metal under and peps as covers..i want to finish it add the functional parts but worry about electronics after..LoL! No, I got it my friend, just eager to see how you make it work. I might still go with a fixed arm for my mk 1 War Machine, but a self leveling gun platform would be nice too. I am working on figuring out a counter/ spring system that can use conventional 1/4 scale r/c plane servos, but might have to go worm geared motors wired through an arduino. A gun with spinning barrels and noise maker is heeaavvyy!
Can wait to see what you build. You might just build an under frame for the mech and make glassed pep covers?
not really i had some but my phone went out on me and i formatted my card n lost my pictures..but i got most of them on google..wasn't really looking until now that I'm building the arm for gun when i do..you'll be the first one to know..For me, Vision= totally robotic, Arduino arm.:cool
Reality= non motorized. Motion done by hand. :cry
My goal is finish the armor accessorize later.opcorn
I hope you succeed wildly so I can copy!:lol

PS. Do you have any really good reference pictures of the back between the rockets? My reference photos are all bad angles! Any help is super appreciated!
Cool! I see now in the third pic! You can probably leave it on top as I have a pic that shows a slotted cover over the exit site on the torso.
I was looking for a tiny Lazy Susan bearing set but the smallest I found was a 3 inch which is way too large. I actually took apart a bearinged castor wheel for a cart. It's base is 1 in square has bearings and the arms that held the wheels axel should be able to be used to mount the gun!
