Wanna make a Thundercracker costume

I am looking for some good hi-res pics of thundercracker from generation 1 Transformers. Hi-res pics of bust and sculpters are also welcome. I want to try to make a thundercracker costume, and need to see if I can draw it out. (not a great artist) Then plan on how to go about creating it. I have made some sketches on a giant mechanical hand. It will have all fingers and thumb working like a normal hand. I just need to figure out a good material to make it with. I have the mechanics down.

Any and all input would be highly appreciated. Thanks

I've helped a friend make a Soundwave and a Wheeljack:

Both used slightly different build techniques.

As to reference all the G1 jets were the same, just different heads and paint schemes. My main piece of advice would be to decide if you're going to make a vehicle costume that looks like a robot or a robot costume that looks like a vehicle. Which one you pick effects how it comes out in the end.

Those look great.

Question. When using the foam, doesn't it squeak a lot when you move? Styrofoam always seems to have that chalkboard screech to it. How did you stop this?

I want to make the robot. I really dont care about it transforming or anything like that.

Also, I want it to be taller then me so I want to make stilts about a foot tall. and The hands I have designed will be fully functional as in all the fingers will move indipendantly and the thumb as well. I dont think I can make them so I can pick stuff up with the light wieght material I will use to make them but I could point and ocasionally flick someone off lol.(only when no kids are looking)

oh and the reason I picked Thundercracker is because you never see anyone with that costume. Also there are slight differences to him and starscream besides the head. But mostly you are right, he is almost identical except for the colors.

If anyone has so good pic of thundercracker please post them. I been searching the net but all i am getting are low res pics and bad angles.

Fixed the pics.

There is a fair amount of squeak with the foam. These are more "stand and pose" costumes than physical suits. You can cut down on the squeaking by making sure that there's no foam touching foam.

thanks for the links. I was planning on something a little larger but after watching that I think maybe I will go for that style first. it looks a little easier and since I am a costume newb it might be better to start with an easier style.
