Vortex 2 voice changer - first look!

Hey guys, for the V2 the output is always stereo. So if you use the included 3.5mm stereo cable you will be fine with either a mono or stereo speaker setup. Any 3.5mm stereo cable will work fine.

With a stereo speaker setup, you will get your transformed voice and a more mechanized breathing effect on both speakers. With mono you get voice and the breathing sound unaltered.

Hope that helps!

BTW, I hope to get some more of these in stock soon enough. I just sold out of my last V2 from the first batch last week. So I am putting in an order for more cards here this week.

They're backl in stock. Just ordered mine. Anybody know the ship time from order to delivery? Thanks,

John

Jim i got a question, i have your V1 unit as you might remember, and at first i was using a stereo speaker. then i switched over to mono PA waistband amps, and now i have the JBL ontour speakers.

the question is, back whe i used the first stereo speaker all i did was hit the power on and the sound come right on up thru the speaker. cuz it starts up in stereo mode.

then i went to the mono type speaker, and to switch modes, i had to hold the micro switch on the cable down whilst powering up. and it worked fine.

so i would assume going back to stereo speakers i would just power it up and it work. but it doesnt, i have to hold the switch and flip on the power to make it work.

is there some kinda reset switch i have to hit? i noticed on the board near the micro switch cable connection there are 2 lil micro switches on the board itself.

it looks like one has the writing of reset on next to it on the board, and something wrote near the 2nd micro aswitch.

so do i need to powerup, and hit that micro switch that says reset, or hold that board mounted micro switch down while powering up?

cuz i think the way its working is im running stereo speakers in mono mode on the board.

could you advise me on this, or maybe anyone else that might know?

thanks in advance.

found my cd, but no mention of a reset on there.

it just says powerup goes to mike level mode, and holding cabled switch on powerup goes to line level mode.

question is, why wont it go to mike level mode now?

still waiting for a answer. anyone? Jim?

it works in the line level mode with the jbl ontours, but a straight power up i get nothing.

i really hope someone will answer this soon. im not touching that reset button till i know for sure, or even if it does anything if i did.

hopefully someone will tell me sooon.

i know one of the jumpers is for switching powered mic to non powered mic according to a tutorial on STT duno wot the other one does tho

For the v1, it powers up in mic output mode by default. This is the compatible mode for the small white RS amp. If you are using any other amplified speaker that takes a line level input, you have to boot the v1 in line output mode for you to hear anything. The mic level output is very low as not to overload the input amp on select RS speakers.

For the jbl ontours or other portable speaker systems, you will have to goto line level mode. Not sure why your mic level is not operating as it was before, are you putting the output into some mic input on a speaker box?

And the reset button will just reset the board, it cant do any harm.

thank you so much Jim. yeah when i first got the unit from you a ways back i did use the white RS amps. then i went to 2 4 watt stereo amps, then more recently to the 2 PA waistband amps, and now to the on tours as you had recommended, and i will say, they do sound awesome with the V1.

what you said, seems right to me, i bet, if i rehooked the white amp back on there it would powerup and work just fine, i hadnt thought of that.

but if what your sayin for the ontours to work, is what im doing to make it work, then im good to go. i guess i was just misunderstandin the way it functioned , i had, in my mind, thought i needed to get it to go back to the mike level powerup, but as you confirmed, i was doing it right the whole time by holding the cabled switch down on powerup. im tellin ya, thats a load of worry off my mind, as i was startin to think my board had messed up.

and i guess i wont need to fuss withthe reset switch. thanks for letting me know on that point as well.

again, thank you so very much for letting me know i had nothing to worry about, and i was running it right afterall.

For any amplified speaker other than the small white RS amp, you will most likely have to go into line level mode.

Way back when I first starting selling the V1 boards, most guys (including myself) were using the white RS speakers for troopers, Vader, Fett, etc. So I made that the default mode on bootup to accomodate most folks.

But now years later there are better speakers to use that need a hotter input signal over the default mic output (such as the ontours or ipod type speakers). So you will have to hold the button on boot to use the full sound potential of these speaker systems.
