Well, the time is almost here! :love After months of design and development, I am very close to releasing the brand new Vortex 2 voice amp - Dark Lord version.

Here is a sneak peak of the new module:

And here are some of the features for the Dark Lord version:

1) Real-time transformation of your voice into the dark lord!
2) External sound effects/breathing sound can be piped in off your mp3 player, cd player, etc.
3) Stereo output with chorus helmet effect for mechanized external breathing effect.
4) Push-to-talk mode or auto VOX mode - these automatically disable breathing sound while talking.
5) Onboard vocal compressor for more vocal presence.
6) Remote pushbutton cable allows operation of unit using single fingertip button.
7) Digital voice gain control
8) Programmable pitch to better match your voice to the proper effect.
9) PTT jack for remote cable
10) Settings for disabling/enabling breathing, VOX levels, gain, etc.
11) Can use any electret mic - powered or unpowered.
12) Small form factor for body-worn applications

Also, the unit can be re-programmed with other voice effects firmware!! :thumbsup
Price is TBD right now.

Hope you guys like it!

Looks a lot more practical thhan the V1 I have. I am also glad to hear that you can use electric mic. I keep leaving mine turned on and the battery dies.

How is the voice clarity? Does it sound clearer than the V1?

The voice clarity is about the same as the V1 - both are 16-bit outputs. The vocal compressor will give you more presence if you need it (which should increase clarity), but that can also kick up more feedback with the mic open. With that said, the new PTT mode eliminates many of the feedback issues since you can open and close the mic at will!

awesome, i got a few friends thats been fretting over getting a system, so i can now tell them you are almost set with the V2 unit.

good news Jim.

Is there any estimate on price?

Can the breathing sound piped in from the external source continue uninterrupted while talking?

Either way, I want one! (just have to get the scratch for it)

Jims stuff is topshelf, the v1 is great. Glad to see the v2 is finally coming out, now get that software working so you can change your voice thru your computer. :)

Jim put me down for one.
I only need the board...

BTW... Could it be possible to alter the pitch of the breathing from fast (fighting) to slow... Dying sound.

Hope you guys like it![/quote]

Great design, like the smaller profile.

Will look into getting one soon,

Robert

And please make it Universal software so we Mac users can take advantage of this, too! Great news, Jim!!

Impressive - Most Impressive!:cool
Jim, Glad to see the new V2.
I really like what you have done - esp the small form factor and PTT.
Put me down for one.

I said it before and I'll say it again "THIS STUFF IS GREAT!!!" :thumbsup Put me down for one Jim. C

Very interested. Get us a price when you can. I'm probably going to get one from you as soon as possible.

Ok, the final boards are being assembled now. So hopefully things will be ready to go in a week or so. As soon as I get these boards back I will program/test them all.

A new web page detailing everything is also being done, hopefully that will be complete soon. Once it is and I have everything in hand, I will put the first batch up for sale. It has been a long time coming, so thanks for all your patience. A lot of design and labor went into making this new unit.

So far I do know that the final price will not go over $399. I am still fiddling with a few things to try and reduce the price a bit more, so stay tuned...
