Voltron References - Creating Pepakura Files

Started late... so instead of starting the Green Lion, I knocked the sword blade out. The Handle tomorrow, then to the Green Lion.

I can take some of those 3d files and rework them for a lower poly count...I have to say this. I'LL FORM... THE HEAD!

LOL I wonder if they said that in Voltron II

I'm sorry I missed your offer. I'v been looking forward to doing the Black Lion. Voltron III was the first costume I attempted when I was younger made out of shoe boxes and construction paper. I was never able to finished it because I outgrew the parts I had already built. My mother wasn't exactly pleased with me for making it at that age. Never tried again until a few months ago when Abbs suggested I look into this site.

Got a lot of em started, but I dropped everything to help out with this build :)

Finished up the quick sizing-pep of the Red Lion Head. My little guy is asleep now, but tomorrow morning I'll see if it's about the right scale for him. After that I should be able to use a uniformed scale on all the other pieces. :)

This cutting and gluing is pretty rough... but it will definitely work to test my scale!

Looks great :)
How did the lower jaw hinge work out? is there anything you need changed/edited?

AWESOME! :)

...Shadeling you asked about the jaw hinge. What you did was good. Anyone hardening these for an adult build (or model), will definitely need the hinge type you used. For the foam I'll be building my son's suit out of, I might use that but I also might try a couple of other things. For Mikey's Ironman build, I used a binding post epoxied to the outside piece that passes through a steel washer-reinforced hole in the hole in the foam of the inside piece.

Thanks, again, for all your work on this - I can't wait to get these unfolded! :)

I have a model. We'll a toy actually. I'll pull it out and take some pics. It's not the die cast one. I'll post pics in a few minutes.

Here we go. If it's useful let me know and I'll take some more.

Just a couple of quick pics of the front RED LION BODY part test fitting on my kiddo!

The scale seems to be working well based on the length of these two pieces and the diameter of the inside cylinder (which fits his arm perfectly). The final test will be the upper arm part (or RED LION REAR section). If that works out, I'll lock this puppy down at this scaling and begin converting the paper peps to foam templates. :)

I'll be traveling for an industry convention this week (mon-wed), so I'll be off-line. I'll hop back on this project when I get back in town!

Finished up a duct tape mannequin for my kiddo. This should make sizing and building these pieces easier, as I won't have to ask him to hold still any longer (for fittings at least). :)

Also finished pepping the upper arm (RED LION REAR section). Doesn't quite reach the top of his shoulder, but fits in all other ways. I think I'm sticking with the 12% scale I started with for these three pieces (and the legs I'm currently unfolding).

How much longer does the back part need to be?

Had time on the flight to take apart the Blue Lion
