Voltron Costume

Just about finished with Green Lion, still need to primer and paint but has been too cold in the garage. I also have the sword and wings template done just need to fiberglass them and paint them to give some sturdiness to them since they are made of foam board

looks like another great build... Uhh, ya know I am going to go out on a limb here and ask.... does anybody out there have pep files for the voltron and its sword or even templates.... I think it is awesome that people can scratch build from nothing... I unfortunately... cannot... if there is someone out there send me a message please...

This is awesome... I have always wanted to do this costume but keeping it proportionally correct to the show and being able to move in it has kept me away. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Amazing details !

Looking at the size of that arm. I think you may need platform shoes to even out the proportions.

Hey, I see you are planning on using resis for the sword for strength. good idea. I do have a question for you. how tall are you planning on it? how about the chest piece? just curious. i Know how important proportions are to you. hope to hear from you soon,
joel

I am 6'1, and from fingertips to shoulder is 29", so the red and green lion are 29" long. The blue and yellow I have not started on yet but I wear a size 12" shoe so the head length will be at least 12" where as the red and green lion head leangth is 8" roughly. The body of the blue and yellow lion will be about 23" high just above my knees not sure on diameter. Chest piece will me modified to fit everything. I think I am proportion with my body style, I have a silver morph suit that I will be wearing to cover up all the areas that the lions do not.

It has been awhile since I have been able to work on this project. I am still waiting on the weather to get better so I can fiberglass and paint the pieces I already have finished. I started working on the head this weekend. Just to make a statement that all the different color foam I have been using will all be painted to the correct color. I put sort of a trap door on the back of the head so I can get in and out of it yet keep the back sealed. I am having a hard time getting pictures to update since the redesign of the website. Is there something I am missing? I go to "Manage Attachments" and then select "Add Files" find them on my computer and upload. It will only let me do one at a time. Is there a bulk uploader somewhere I am missing. Thanks for the help and feedback.

This build is EPIC!!!

Great Work Sir!!!

So inspiring..

I am now more than ever determined to push through with my Soul of Chogokin Robot build (either Voltes V or Grendizer)...

Cant wait to see you finish your project....!!!

how's it going? I found some really good reference pics if you need any. let me know which lions and I will get them to you.

I finally figured out how to upload pictures...change is always good just need time for adjustment :confused

Hello again everyone. I sort of let this thread die but not on purpose. I was originally using EVA foam as stated in my prvious posts. However my son actually did me a favor last year. I had the red and green lion completed and painted and then he picked up one of the lions did a roar sound and squeezed the mouth together and cracked the entire paint job from the mouth to the eyes. I was little shocked at first but then realized that packing and unpacking and moving around the foam will not hold up so my son actually did me a favor. So now I switched my materials to foam core and using Dupont Automotive paint it is finally coming along. There is more done than what the pictures show but just need to finish the head and wings and it is ready for trial run. In the meantime this project was moving slow since I was working on a Predator costume for my son and a Hawkgirl for my daughter. Back on this project now working to get it done, just wanted to share my progress. Thanks
