Viper Pilots - Now with lights! :)

These are 1/24 scale pilots meant to go with the studio scale Viper kit. While the original pilot is nice, I always wanted some more options, to include a seated female pilot, Boomer, Starbuck, Apollo seated pilots, and a standing male and female Colonial Warrior. I've planned for some time to do some different diorama's, and I needed a seperate helmet and the standing and various seated figures to be able to pull it off. I got the standing female and seated male figs a while ago (and Starship Modeler even carried them for a bit) but the seated female and standing male never made it out...till now. (finally! WHEW)
Working on painting the figures I decided to play around with lighting the helmets. They are cast in a clear resin, but I didn't have a small enough LED to insert into the helmet, so I did a test with fiber optics. I actually really like the results, though I want to try it with a yellow LED instead of the white. So...voila headlights. (now, get your head out of the gutter if you were looking for something else! )

Now...onto the figures...So...here they are! I'm still tweaking the paint job. It's still a very small subject matter, and I find every time I stare at one of them I have work I want to do...but they are getting close. Hope you like...I'm pleased...(and now I need to getb onto my Viper! )

I decided to do the head for the seated Starbuck without the helmet first, but it's held on with a rare earth magnet and I also did the seperate head for the helmet. I'd like to do Apollos seated head as well, and then a seperate Boomer pilot.

In case folks are interested, here are some additional pics of the figures.

In case anyone is interested, I twisted Mike Salzo's arm, and he was nice enough to cast these figures for me. I believe he's going to offer them for a limited time to folks. I'm honestly not sure of the pricing, but if you email Mike at salzo1@aol.com I'm sure he can provide more details. I'm not sure how long they will be around, so I would suggest if your interested it's worth getting them now for your Viper display. Personally, I've thought about a nice launch tube display..cockpit open, and three figs around...or landed on a planet...or just displaying them on a nice cubit base. To me, they really add a lot. Thanks for letting me share, and I truly hope people enjoy them.
Cheers

If I remember correctly, Apollo was a left-handed guy, no ? So his gun should be on the left side of his pant....I guess.

Doh! Correct. I guess instead of calling the standing figure Apollo...I should call him Zack...or generic Colonial Warrior. (I suppose I could chop the gun off the hip of the seated one and move it...but I'm not sure it's worth that. ) Wish I had thought of that before these sculpts were made. Bleh.
