Inception is structured within a narrative gimmick that allows for the characters to literally travel deeper into the lead character, revealing aspects of himself visually through their journey ... if that wasn't able to "hook" you, then there's really nothing else the movie could have done.

It could have given a reason to care about the characters, regardless of the structure of the film. And it didn't do that. "Memento" did, and look at how that narrative structure was.

And Larry, if I missed it, then how about you be a calm and rational human being and point out what you think the hook was and where you think the hook was, please? I'd like to know what the hook was to you and where you believe it turned up. Nicky was more than kind enough to tell me what he believed the hook was (which is the narrative structure gimmick). I'd like to get your honest and non-sarcasm filled opinion, if its not too much to ask.
