Vikings - History Channel

Yesterday's episode was really good. I liked how they showed the different fighting leading styles between Ragnar and Rollo. One uses his head, the other his axe.

Floki is really starting to become one of my favourite characters. When you first meet him, he's this tall lanky looking guy, not one you'd expect to be of any use in a fight but he's right in there with everyone killing guys left and right. I also like how he was going at Rollo for what he did.

I'm really curious if they plan on having anything supernatural in the show like elaborating more on Ragnars visions of Odin or if they want to make them what his mind wants him to see.

I'd rather they left those 'visions' ambiguous. That way it allows the viewer to decide if it's wishful thinking, a product of a strong belief, or a genuine sign from the gods.

Some posts have been removed, so let's please keep this discussion on topic. Thanks.

Agreed. They're handling the topic of faith on each side very respectfully IMO.

At this point are we assuming that Ragnar has learned Saxon from Athelstan? He didn't need a translator when negotiating with the king.

And poor Wilhelm - he died once again, this time right after the king's brother was awakened... :D

I'm surprised that Lagertha's pregnancy turned out the way it did. The historical Ragnar had at least one other very interesting child... but I'll say no more about that.

Ragnar knew a little before his first trip to England, but has been learning more since then from the Monk he enslaved.

And yes, I too gained respect for Floki during this episode.

Considering the episode was devoid of any battles, group or individual, it was pretty darn entertaining. I have no idea how accurate the portrayal of their religious customs is, but regardless, it was very interesting.

Glad to see the priest saved. Ironic, isn't it, that he thought by publicly denouncing ******, and embracing Oden, he would protect himself from harm at the hands of the pagan Vikings? But no, it was his enduring faith in ***** that saved him.

As for Rollo, he should listen to Siggy--she knows the score. (But I hope he doesn't, because I like Ragnar much better.)

What? Nobody's watchin' this anymore??

Kind of a mellow season finale, but still very good.

Rollo's a traitor, I knew he'd betray his brother!

Glad Athelston survived the Black Death, or whatever that scourge was.

I'm stoked we're getting a second season, but bummed it's a year away.

im still here...
i might have missed the last episode
had mixed feelings about the offerblot (ceremonial sacrifice) at the temple...
yes, they did have this for sure but it didnt look right...too much fantasy with the weird looking priests....

Yeah, I gave up after the episode where Ragnar and the Jarl dueled. I was already on the fence, but that one was just too silly for me to bother watching more.

The thing I really can't stand about the show is the pacing. They have these huge events and then skip to weeks or months later. Like last week when Athelstan was offered up as sacrifice and that didn't happen, I wanted to see the fallout from it between him and Ragnar. Instead it's weeks later or whatever and everything is A-ok. IGN made a good point about how they're worried that with the pacing of the show, when the second season picks up, it'll be weeks later and we won't get to see his reaction to finding out
His daughter was killed by the plague or lagerthas reaction to him knocking up the other woman

It'll definitely be interesting to see how their beliefs come into play with how everything went down.

Is this thing even historically accurate? From the season 2 teaser it looks like it wants to be Game of Thrones. Give me a good documentary anytime. Seems like they moved all the other shows to H2 and left history channel for reality and this.

Come on folks
The new season is a go and im up for new interesting comments :)
