Vest for Agents of SHIELD Melinda May

someone told me to stay away from Famous Jackets! :( oh well back to the drawing board! where do you see that it is out of stock, I put one in the cart, just seeing if it would work.

I live in Columbus. That's my local con. Count me in! Who are you working on?

I have a Captain America outfit that is a WIP.

I have 5 girls that are going as just generic agents. We got them some black coats, pants, airsoft pistols and holsters. we bought the Shield patches and will be attaching those to the sleeves. We have one girl who will be going as Black Widow, though she is too "shy" to wear the cat suit. So she will also be in a separate black pants and jacket. Her Jacket will be different that the other girls though, and we do have the belt buckle and the black widow "bites" for her.

None of us will be "screen accurate" though.

Got another guy trying to do a Winter Soldier outfit.

There will also be a Cyclops and a Nightcrawler with us - Because they are not team players. :lol But at least they are sticking to Marvel characters.

We will be there on Saturday November 1st.

I should also state that we are all pretty new to the Cosplay thing. People will definitely know that my crew are S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, but no one is going to think we came right off the set or anything. lol

That sounds like fun! Have fun with it! I am new to putting my own together & researching the parts. I'd love to join! Trying to get mine done by Dragon Con. The vest I am probably going to shell out some $$ for custom made for sure. You'll need badges maybe.

I may or may not (no pun intended) skimp on a few items like screen accurate pants/shirt due to costs. I'm also way deep into my other WIP cosplays "Jinx" from G.I. Joe Retalliation & Clone Wars Ahsoka Tano.

But I live 10 minutes from Ohio Con!

I wouldn't trust Famous Jackets, if you look at all the photo's on their site it's all photo's from the films, not the actual merch. Also if you check out their twitter page their re-tweeting weird **** that doesn't even have anything to do with their store. Even the twitter site has no merch they've produced themselves. Their address is showing in the UK but the currency is all in $'s and the addresses where their jackets sell are in the US. For such an amazing company, why aren't they advertising on their home soil??? If you want a custom leather outfit try leathernext. At least they show their merch and they custom make stuff. However they're based somewhere overseas and they either don't email you or the english is pretty bad. But they do make quality leather outfits.

When it comes to buying replica jackets online, there's a few major red flags you should always look for.

- No pictures of the actual product
- Replicas of jackets being released before the film even comes out or before much promotional material is released
- Sites that advertise basically every film jacket imaginable.
- Strange wording in the descriptions, bad grammar.
- Cheap plastic looking leather/materials
- And always take the image they provide, and upload it to a Google Image search and see where else the image is used online.

There's really only a few reputable sites online that sell good quality replica jackets. Logan's Closet, Heron, Soul Revolver, and Magnoli, to name a few. Some of the random eBay vendors are ok if you're just looking for a "good enough" jacket to use at a con once in a while. Just remember to check their feedback.

I wouldn't strictly say bad grammar is an indication. Leathernext are legit however when you email them their English leaves a lot to be desired but I bought a pair of gloves from them and they are well made. No email communication possibly due to the English barrier but they do deliver within 4 weeks so I gave them that and it came before the 4th week was up. They're currently trying to do a Dredd build and you can see that on their site, so if you contact them with pictures and measurements they'll make it. If they throw loads of $'s back at you just send them Famous Jackets and say well they're selling them for $150. *cough* ;)

I would shop around with the sites mentioned, send them photo's of Melinda May's outfit from all angles and then ask how much it would cost to make it. Use the one that gives you the best price. :)

You can get a replica badge here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Agents-S-H-I-E-L-D-shield-large-badge-round-holder-RESERVE-/111328687775

Guy is from China and when you buy from him he doesn't respond but I bought one from him and it came pretty quickly, you also get a round badge holder so you can tuck it on your belt so everyone can see it. I would recommend if you can't get the official badge which costs a lot more. Here's the one I bought from him...minus the badge holder but it fits perfectly in it.

Not saying it's always an indication of a cheap site/jacket, but it's definitely something you should notice, and definitely something that should be a red flag to make you check out the rest of their site and information and make an informed decision from there. Because 98% of these cheap replica jacket sites, all have bad grammar, so it is something worth paying attention to.

If any of you ladies would like to commission this vest, drop me a line; we could certainly replicate this vest accurately for you.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Well DisguisedLeia, If you are planning on being there on 11/1, then you'll have to hook up with us for some pictures at least. Maybe we can start up the AoS equivalent of the 501st. :lol

FYI, Ann Foley is the costume designer for the Agents of SHIELD TV show, and I've heard of several people asking her about specifics and her actually replying to people. Here is her Twitter page:

If you have a question just ask.

she has responded to me too!! too cool! I was asking her about the thumbhole shirt, she said it was a black 4 way stretch called Euro Jersey screenprinted with a blue pattern
