Venator Class Republic Star Destroyer

In the spirit of newness and adding to the community here is a project I did at the end of last year. It took me about a week. I'm not a professional and only used hand brushing. I have since added some battle damage and scorch marks but this it what it looked like brand new and shiny.

I painted it mostly as the instructions advised. This is perhaps my favorite large ship to come out of the Star Wars prequels. Not as boring as the near featureless Star Destroyers from the original trilogy and more interesting to look at, at least to me.

What do ya think, worthy of showing off at the RPF?

Ya do realize you just offended (or at least, baffled) about every old-school member here with that statement, right?

Near featureless??? :cry

Nice work. It looks great, though I'm sure it looks better with weathering.

He's right though, at least in my opinion. ;) Yes, I know there was a lot of detailing that went into them, but aside from the bridge, engines, and bulb on the bottom... there wasn't much to them. However, my favorite ship from the original trilogy was the Executor. It was much different than your regular Star Destroyer though.

A simpler well thought design is the way to go, a Star Destoyer for me anytime, the Executor was a very simple design overall so is the x-wing and Tie, for the prequels they seem they were out of ideas, too much of a mixture of original design with new.

Damn! I didn't mean to offend dozens of folks. More features doesn't mean better. A regular Star Destroyer and especially the Executor could mop the floor with a Venator every day of the week and twice on Sundays. :wacko

LOL! Don't sweat it, TJ. Likes and dislikes aren't rational. I do hate the Venator with a passion - to me, it's no more than a pastiche of 'real' SW design. A friend of mine gave it the "Venator" name, by the way. I'd like it for his sake if I could, but I just can't.

That said, YMMV. Your build's just fine, and welcome aboard. :)
