Will follow this with great anticipation. :thumbsup

What are you using to sculpt this with - what material and tools? And do you have any more progress shots of your development from beginning to this?

Yeah... I know Casteline - haven't tried it myself, but have heard good things about the older stuff and not so good things about the newer batch. Always wanted to try it though. Is it true that it is a bit tougher to work with, not as soft, as super sculpey, if you have tried that and can compare the two products?

I see you are going for the ESB look for the Vader... and it may just be the angle... but I'm pretty sure that the chin vent is more RotJ style than ESB... though, it is a minor thing... and your sculpt definitely looks good.

Keep up the good work.

thanks:rolleyes

unfortunately, I can't compare Castilene with Super-sculpey, I've never use this last one , Castilene is very hard when it's cold , it came soft when it's warm. I think it's better for details than soft materials.

for the chin vent ... I can't see a big difference between ESB and ROTJ ..:unsure

Awww Man, I can't see the Vader pic :(

I can see the trooper though and it looks bloody amazing.

You're obviously a very talented artist!!! :thumbsup

Cheers,

Kraig

Edit: I see the Vader pic now and LOVE it!!!

Well... don't worry about it. The ESB vents were cut differently between the helmets used, so it's not big deal, really. Usually, the ESB chin vent goes out to the corner of the last tooth, whereas the RotJ goes to the corner of the mouth in length... about ½" more than the ESB all-round. And the ESB corners - on most of the helmets had rounded corners, where RotJ were more sharp, edgy.

Seriously... don't listen to me... you are doing a great job and should just continue doing what you do. :thumbsup

May try out some of that Casteline... seems to be what I'm looking for.

Looks fantastic!:eek You nailed the asymetry of the originals.:):thumbsup I tried Castilene but couldn't do much with it. How did you get the surface so smooth on Vader? Your Stormtrooper looks to be coming along nicely too. When you add to the Castilene, do you have to warm the surface of the piece you're working to get the new to stick to it?

Looks great so far! And judging from your CR Superman sculpt, I'm sure it'll only get better.

I am curious as to why you chose 1/3rd scale as opposed to 1/4th (mainly because quarter scale is so much more widely used). Although, now that I think about it, 1/3rd scale would have a more 'demanding presence' which works perfectly for Vader.

thanks :)

Kevoris, when I add a priece of wax I warm the metal tool.
I use my microwave too, the Castilene become almost liquide and I use it as clay with tools.I smooth the surface with turpentine oil .

KidL, I decide to make a 1/3 scaled Vader because his costume is very detailed and I want to make a very film-accurate statue. the 1/4 scaled is a bit small to me, I had problems of likeness with my Superman.. well it was the first time I sculpt a detailed bust...
