Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - NEW SUIT DONE Pics on p.17

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

You guys are like gods now :0 I wish I had the money and the knowledge to knwo how to do what you guys did... Your Astartes armor is amazing and is aalmost like actual size! Your guys are the greatest! This is much more than inspiration, but.... like.. o_O awesomeness and makes me want to make my own T-T

Although I want to use a mix of sheet metals and plastics to give the texture of real metal while still being light.... One day I'll have to figure that all out :/

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

WOW. Fantastic work!

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

so my only question is will your shoulder pads and t other parts be filled with foam?

No foam. There's really no need for it.

In the future, if I build another suit, I'll probably end up taking my shoulder mold and have someone blow 'glass into it with a chopped strand gun. That'll make them quite a bit stronger than the ABS or styrene copies without adding too much extra weight.

In other news, I won the contest at instructables.com:

So sometime soon I'll be getting a pretty kick-ass Objet30 Pro 3D printer. Once it arrives and I've figured out how to make it go, I'll be offering up printing services.

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

That's a spendy 3D printer! :eek

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

I can think of no better shop to get a 3D printer!
Congrats and I look forward to seeing more outstanding creations!

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Nice going Thorssoli!! :thumbsup you deserve that title, no doubt about it :thumbsup

I might just take you up on a printing job in the future ;)

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Having been a die hard warhammer nut for years and year..I have to say your space marine is top notch. congratulations on your win

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Congrats on the win, well deserved.

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

That is awesome news!!:D Big Congrats to everyone involved. You definately deserved it!

Thats also a hell of a sweet prize. Any idea what will be the first 40k prop out of it?:)

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

3d printed full size drop pod ?:)

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

The full print envelope is only about 6"x9"x12" give or take. I'd have to do the drop pod in lots of separate pieces...

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Best get to the planning stage then ;) ( the drop pod was the largest 40k item I could think of to make).

With the size of the print envelope would it be big enough to print one of your gnomes ?

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

I could print one of my gnomes, yes, but with all of the organic shapes on the gnomes, they don't really lend themselves to machine building.

I do plan to make new rifles for them though. Possibly a few other accessories (binoculars, canteens, etc).

Still, the first thing I'm going to do is get a 3D scan of my own head so I can re-scale it and replace the heads on all of my action figures...

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

Lol, scale the head up and you can do a reveal bust for your space marine helmet.

Re: Vacformed Warhammer 40k Space Marine Armor - Finished Suit Pics on p.17

How about Krak and Frag granades ? They are fairly small and a simple shape, if you make them hollow you can even use them as drink holders :)
