using copper tape to sire up LEDs on plexi?

I have some copper conductive tape intended for small car racing. I was wondering if I could mount LEDs in a sheet of plexi and use the tape to run the electricity to it without damaging the pleci (heat, etc.?)

There would be little to no shock danger as it would all be mounted on the inaccessible backside of the plexi.

That approach would work, but I think you'd have trouble maintaining good electrical contact between the tape pieces and LED leads.

I'd recommend solder and thin wire. The LED leads could be left perpendicular to the plexi surface for soldering and then folded flat once the solder had cooled, eliminating any problems with heat damage.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to do some tests...
