UC Orcrist: "It is here."

Your pix were fine. It was obvious your full sword photo was looking at the sword from the hand end, not an overhead perspective. I posted pix showing a side-by-side comparison with the prop to showing they were identical and someone still said the proportions were wrong, so people will see what they want to either way.

Uh, no. They weren't.
"Crassly taken"?

Unreal. People beg for pics and then become photo critics.

I for one will never post pics on this forum again.
He wasn't referring to your photos, but the photos that are posted about the middle of the first page

I didn't say it was wrong, all I said was that to my eye, I think it looks unevenly proportioned. Not the proportions of the movie prop to the replica, but the proportions of the movie prop itself (the size of the hilt to blade)

EDIT: Reading back, I can see that my post could have been interpreted as saying that the replica was incorrect. I'm sorry, that's not what I was trying to put across

Ah, so thats why it looks so much like Sting, this was a great article, thank you!

It took some time but I finally received my Orcrist. I decided to buy the UC version and I love it. It’s a real beauty, lighter and better balanced than most of UC blades. Some people complained about the plastic handle but in my opinion it looks great and very convincing. There were also reports about cracks on the handle, so I checked mine very carefully. There are no cracks on mine but I noticed two thin seams going through the whole length. I don’t have a clue what it is. It could be that the handle is made from two halves, but if so why the seams are so irregular? Anyways, can you see these seams on your Orcrists?

Those are actually the mold parting lines. A wavy line is better than a straight line IMO, but on some of the handles they are polished off. That's one of the nice things about the handle material. It's a type of acrylic and can be sanded and polished even more to look like a natural material. United could only go so far with the production finish, but here is what an hour of customizing can do. I was going for an aged ivory type finish here.

Thanks for your respond Kit. I agree with you, the wavy lines look much better and I would say more “natural” than straight lines. These lines are almost invisible, but still, it surprises me that United Cutlery tries so hard to make a perfect product. I like your modification of the Orcrist, but I prefer the factory version.;) It’s my favorite sword, by far. By the way, Kit could you be so kind and check my other topic. I think you are the best person to answer my question. Thank you in advance. Please check the link:
