Just wanted to see if anyone knew the mini-gun used by the creature Nemesis in the movie? thanks

I think it was a custom jobby for the film. IIRC one of the guys on the board made it, as well as the rocket launcher to match the game.

I am pulling a complete and utter blank on who though. I want to say the same guys that did the deep eyes suits? hanger something?

Great work, and a pretty awesome piece.

I just came across this for productions notes

quote"
For the movie, his arsenal includes the unique and deadly rail gun.
“The rail gun is just something fresh and incredibly devastating,” says Anderson. “I
had this image in my mind of this guy walking around with a gigantic, powerful weapon in
each hand and almost indecisive as to which one to use. Of course, in some of my favorite
action scenes in the movie he uses both.”
This high-powered gun was created by the movie armament, Charles Taylor, as a
modification of a General Electric M134 Mini Gun. Originally designed to be mounted on
military helicopters (as seen in
Black Hawk Down), the gun fires 6,000 rounds per minute.

Production Notes & Bios – Page 11
Taylor deconstructed the weapon, shortening the six rotating barrels to 14” and
adding muzzle brakes which divert the burning gunpowder to create a unique plasma effect
when firing. The countdown display and Umbrella insignia were added as were the grip and
arm brace. The finished weapon weighs in at sixty pounds.
RESIDENT EVIL: Apocalypse

marks the first time a weapon of this type has ever been fired from one hand.
On the set, the Nemesis’ gun was fired for the first time in a narrow corridor of the
Raccoon City Police Station. In three seconds, 150 rounds discharged in an ear-splitting
display that created a remarkable vortex by ripping every piece of paper off the walls and
creating so much pressure that two dolly grips on the far end of the corridor were pushed
backwards. Nobody had ever experienced anything like this before.

There's some great info on chainguns on the Predator DVD. Among other things, they had to severely slow the firing rate down so it could be seen, the gun was nice to fire because of the gyroscope-effect it caused, Jesse Ventura was about the only one that could fire it, because it weighed so much, and they had to use racks of batteries and bullets off camera to really make the gun work.

A minigun is a type of gatling gun, a chaingun is something entirely different.
According to Wikipedia, "Chain gun" is a registered trademark of McDonnell Douglas for a chain-powered weapon. The "mini" of the name is in comparison to designs that use a similar firing mechanism but 20 mm or larger shells, such as General Electric's earlier M61 Vulcan. (though the term is sometimes used more generally to refer to guns of similar rates of fire and configuration regardless of power source.)

"Chain Gun" A Chain Gun Is NOT a Minigun or Gatling Gun for that matter - Unlike what some video games would lead you to believe. A Chain Gun is a single barrel 7.62mm or larger weapon that uses a chain system & motor to load, cycle, fire & eject a round in the gun. An example of an actual "Chain Gun" is the one mounted on the AH64 Apache helicopter. The next time you see a "Chain Gun" with spinning barrels remember the only place you could be is in "Fantasy Land".

Note the picture top RHS in the 'chain gun' Wiki entry - one barrel only.
