Does anyone know what the actual Twilight Zone's Mystic Seer machine really looked like? Looking at screen shots from the movie, it seems that the front cover portion is sort of shiny - so maybe chromed? The sides look like it's painted a darker color - red maybe? The devil's head, I assume, is red. Can anyone verify these facts or know what the actual machine really looked like in color? :confused

I don't think the mystic seer is chromed.
I've been looking at the 'build a mystic seer' page for a few days (as well as searching around elsewhere)...that prop is non-functional. I want to built a functional version.
Originally the prop was built to fit over an functioning swamii napkin/menu holder (common in diners in the 40's - 60's). Nowadays they're rare. So far the only thought I've had for a mechanism would be to bastardize a card shuffler. I'm afraid it will shoot the fortunes all over instead of simply dispensing 1 at a time. :confused

I was never sure what the color of the seer machine is in the episode. I want to say red, but some pictures I've seen look silver. Probably going red with mine.
I'm in the planning stages for the shell I'm going to build around my ask swami machine, and my devil head is almost ready. This has been a long time in the making, but it's one of those things I've always wanted.
I'm not sure when the whole thing will be done, but I'll be sure to update.

Atarian - The reason I asked the question about anyone knowing the exact colors of the Mystic Seer is that I wanted to make sure that my Mystic Seer covers (seen pictured) were as accurate as possible to the original. I've been using two different devil heads (also pictured) to top off the covers. I'm having a great time building these covers and I just wanted to make them as close to the original as possible. I looked closely at the pictures you uploaded and it sure seems that the front face is either stainless steel or chromed because it shows a reflection of the devils head on the top face of the Seer. The sides are definitely a different color than the front face. I really like your devil's head - an exact duplicate of the real deal.I was never sure what the color of the seer machine is in the episode. I have the Mystic Seer and I'm looking for a repro menu. Has this been done yet? I have searched on here and on google with no luck. Has anyone made a repro menu?
I was not sure if I'm suppose to make a new thread or post in here. If I broke some rules feel free to delete but please steer me in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to share something I just came across in an antique mall.
This is a hallow rubber headed puppet from at least the 50's I would guess. Missing the crystal in the eye, Could this be what was used on the original prop? I know its not exact but its a crazy close resemblance.
