Tusken Raider Mask Question

Hello fellow members, It is not a secret that I am building a Tusken Raider costume with a friend in Argentina. Actually, both of us are doing it. We started doing the mask, so we bought two Godzilla kits. We are almost done, we have to glue the fabric strips. I did small mods to the kit, like this one for example:

I did this first because I did not trust on the amazing goop to glue the alu and the latex. But, later I realized that was a great idea. We can put a lense or a screen fabric and swap it just like this. BUT, we are debating what they used back in 76. According an image scan I have, we can see a glare, corresponding to a acrylic or plastic lense?. I saw ANH in HD, and I could not get any clear image about it.

Example:

They used screen in the prequels:

So, what do you think? What did they use back in 76? I also have some important information to share about the respirator parts, that, as always I am willing to share, but will do it in a new thread.:love

I know that they used lenses in 76'. The only problem is they were completly blacked out and the stunt man in the suit was totally blinded and did the fight by memory.
I used screens in mine. they black out in photos and never fog up. ;)

Hey, thanks for your feedback. I guess my friend won the debate so. I never used a mask or helmet before. He plays Boba Fett since 2009, so he is used to it. I was worried about the fog thing, this is why I wanted to install screen instead of acrylic lenses. And what about the mouth?

Well, I did check on that forum several times before I posted here. It seems oriented to events and standards. I am not registered, so I don't know if there is a hidden section, but I could not found a single thread where they discussed something about screen accuracy. I could be wrong of course.

Yea, there's actually a ton of information on their forum, but you do have to register and log in to view it.

Thanks Sean, you were right. I registered myself there I found out a lot of ref pic that I never saw before. Will keep you posted about any news.

I decided to try with 1mm acrylic lense. They were laser cut today. Color is smoke black, quite translucent by the way.

I did a basic test and I am quite satisfied with it. Guess I will be using screen only for trooping and these ones for studio photo shots.
