Thanks guys. I got the white parts back today so we can finally finish building him!

Here's the skins.

what blue combo did you use?

They're powder coated! Found out its a perfect match for Dykem layout fluid used on the original but is durable as hell!

Perfect metallic sheen and blue to purple color change.

What kind of cost is it to build a legit R2-D2 like this Trent? I'd love to build one!

You don't want to know lol.
Seriously though it's kind of like asking how much a car costs :) a Kia is just as much of a legit car as a Lexus. I've seen people builds really nice looking droids for only a few thousand. And then some that are ten times that. It really depends on what material you decide to use, how creative you are, and what you want it to do.

In the meantime, we have legs! First test fit.

I'm getting so confused between the 2 sites! LOL legs are still sexy as all hell!

This is an incredible build. At some point I am going to have to build an R2 all in aluminum when I have the money. It really does look amazing.

Dude...That looks amazing!

I'm seriously interested in the blue powder coating...I LOVE how it turned out. Since I'm also here in Fort Worth, would you care to share the specifics on where you had it all done? You can PM me if you prefer...Seriously nice work. :)

They are separated, but not hinged at this point. In other words I made the doors, but have them held down tightly for now. I'm sure I'll continue to add features to him off and on.

OMG the parts!!! I love it! what remaining pieces do u need?! looks like u have almost everything

I still need ankle cylinders, ankle details, and shoulder hubs. I'm hoping to witness his first "steps" this weekend. We'll see.

Whew I now have mad respect for anyone that tackles a project like this. Just the seemingly simple task of bolting his legs on took several hours. I'm beat and my back hurts from bending over but I got it done. One step closer!
