Coming together nice and fast! All aluminum too! I started piddling with a second one and my goal was to not have one pice of AL on him. Just to see if I could do it.

Thanks! I'm super excited. I've wanted to have my very own R2 ever since I saw him on an episode of Sesame Street when I was 4. I'd seen him in the movies but in my 4 year old mind "movies weren't real" but when I saw him on Sesame Street, which WAS real, I remember thinking, "Wait, he's REAL?" From then on I always wanted my very own. I'd draw pictures of him and day dream about having him follow me around the house and I was the only one that understood what he was saying.
I got so close 4 years ago and then we had to sell him which destroyed me (and made my son very sad). So finally being able to get him back and for real this time is very exciting. He's actually sitting in the floor next to me playing pandora for me while I work. Fun times.

Dude... First off. Yes! Great build.

I just can't believe how cool he looks with the non painted metal body, blue markings on his head.

I would have a hard time painting it! Man that looks too cool. Like a graflex

Yeah I definitely do like the raw aluminum. I'll have plenty of time to have him that way. But ultimately it'll be R2 so I HAVE to paint him. BUT! I'm getting him powder coated all over, and I'm trying to match the color and finish exactly to the ANH version so he'll definitely be grimy in all the right places. Should be good stuff.

Subscribed! This is an amazing build! I would love to build an all metal R2 someday, just don't think I have the skills to make it look right

the only skill I have is a screw driver, a dremel, and a lot of patience reading page after page of information. Oh and staring at reference photos for hours, LOL.

although, I am learning a ton about electronics. that stuff scares me.

I guess I'm just so anxious to get caught up to where I was on the last one before I had to sell it. I really want to have him up and running around by Halloween. the neighborhood kids will freak out.

I did that as Vader a couple years ago. The next morning I had to go pick up all the candy and broken baskets in my yard from the kids that ran off in terror.

I'm already trying to find a way to rig his utility arms to hold a bucket of candy so he can roll around the driveway and hand out candy.
