TRON: Uprising Series Discussion

Doing a little poking around, I saw it's scheduled for 10/19, and also something I had not heard in the beginning, that it's a 10 part series.

I didn't know it was 10 episodes either. Only three more episodes and it's finished. I'll probably pick up the hopeful Blu-ray. The series is well done.

Even with the anniversary thing coming up Disney seems to be either dropping the ball or letting TRON stuff slowly die out. It doesn't look like Hot Toys will make a Quorra figure. The lightcycle took ages. Sideshow Toys hasn't released any of their TRON Legacy items. And Uprising doesn't have any toys. Which is very strange for a cartoon.

It's not that strange. There are a few cartoons that would have been ideal for a toyline that never materialized.

Also, is it possible that Beck's character as played by Elijah Wood could make a cameo in The next movie sequel? Considering Elijah Wood is a little more famous than your average VA there's always the chance he could appear in the movies.

A ten parts season ? Hmm... Okay, here's a theory. The series was going to be longer, but due to the poor ratings, Disney decided to pull the cord. So they've stopped the airing to rewrite the remaining episodes and fit the story into a ten parts one.

Cool theory, if you don't take into account the time needed to make one episode. Still...

I always thought toys and cartoons go hand in hand. Not that I buy many toys these days. Or watch many cartoons. But every cartoon I can remember always had toys. Maybe the TRON Legacy toys didn't sell well. But this is a cartoon with really cool designs. The suit who looked at all the illustrations and said no toys must be one of the most boring people in the world.

Originally when the series was first announced, it was supposed to be a 6 episode miniseries. Then it got expanded. I believe at one point I heard in an interview a member of the creative team mention something like 25 episodes. I guess we'll wait and see how long it goes.

Me... I'm annoyed I have to wait until October. :)

I have some really good info on the series.

I was looking around looking for details on the show and found a blog piece that referenced season 1 as 18 episodes as a fact from the beginning. Rather than the 10 also reference in many other places.

I wrote him askin and he responded saying it is 18, and provided a link to the Tron Uprising panel from NYCC a week and a half ago. Charlie Bean (director) was there, and they showed Scars parts 1 and 2. I believe the guy with him was from Disney and he said to the effect that last week's return was the first of 9 straight episodes, and the final 3 of season 1 would air in January 2012. Making the total 18. (I'm thinking that makes Beck's Beginning not count as the first episode).

Here's the blog entry.

Here's the YouTube from NYCC.

His blog looks really cool, i'll have to take some time to really read through it.

I just started watching these recently and can't wait to see more.

Very nice! Who knows if it gets enough ratings, we may get a season 2. I watched the first few minutes of the video.

Great news Rebelscum!

If this series were ever to be released on blu-ray I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

BTW: Last episode's return entrance was epic! Pavel failed again deliberately, but has the Risc Disc, wonder where this is going?!

So... no discussions yet on Scars ? I felt it was a great episode, driven by the very unusual Tron's hate towards Dyson.

Loved the ISOs sequences, appearance from Flynn and Tron's team. This show is really bringing some Tron vibes, where the movie felt really flat...
