A question regarding laser cutters

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, I don't see one specifically for tools, and I'm using to build a studio model, so I guess it can go here.

Does anyone have any recommendations for laser cutters? I'm currently looking at this one;

But I have no idea if it's any good or not. I'm just using it for cutting 2-3mm acrylic. Does anyone have one of these? What software do these things support?

thanks

I don't have any experience with that particular laser, but I have used a GlowForge pretty extensively. They have a web interface where you can upload your design. I use Illustrator to make vector images, and then upload as either a PDF or SVG. Pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.

That should cut the acrylic no problem. I have a 10W that does it. You won't be able to do clear acrylic though. Lightburn is the standard software that most use.

Let me know how ti goes. My sense was that solid-state laser (like the one you linked to) may not cut acrylic.

I ended up going with a K-40 (CO2 laser). I spent a little more than the basement-priced models (went with Omtech) so it would have air-assist, etc.
