First released photo, with a good look at the costumes and most importantly... the identity disc!

First look look at Jeff Bridges, Flynn, in Tron Legacy. And another angle of the disc. These appear to have built-in illumination. Very cool. :thumbsup

Rick's Props has been working on these props, and I'm super excited to eventually get a better look at 'em!

Based on what we're seeing here, what to you folks think about going about making a replica?

So I assume that Jeff Bridges has control over the digital domain like the MCP or Sark did. I love the fact that everything is "upgraded" just like new technology would be.

I can't wait!

yeah in the trailer i saw he is sitting in his room up on a cliff but he is also riding a light cycle down on the road/whateveritscalled only that version is a a younger looking Bridges

I know that there are frisbee discs with hollow centers, but I wonder if this version is based on real disk or a total custom

I would speculate they were custom made, given Disney's resources (just like the SW prequel sabers) but the design would have to be close to a real frisbee ring for the sake of functionality.
As cool as they make them, they still have to work for the intense fight scenes.

Does anyone know if ring frisbees perform better than the disc ones? I remember seeing a video that looked like it was from the 70's and it was really impressive what people could do with the old school design.

I really want to do a Tron Legacy Costume. I've been waiting for better pics to come out so I can see what I need to do to get it fairly accurate. I've already been looking into light tape and light wire :)

Yes... Looks as if the entire digital world has been taken over by Apple :lol

I like the costumes, but goodness, why doesn't Flynn's have more glowy lines?

I'm not sold on the new outfits either. The lightcycles and environment look incredible, but I was hoping to see the retro-costumes complete with circuit board glow patterns and hockey helmets. :lol

Regardless, this is sure to have a huge cult following. Can't wait !
:love

I giggled like a little girl when I saw the LEDs sequence in that ring during the trailer. I need to have one.

Didn't Rick say he was working on the discs for Tron? Maybe he will be kind enough to at least explain how he made them.

Interesting look on the suits.

It looks like white foam glued on, under a black light.

But, it does work.

Can't wait for this movie.

Don't think it was white foam glued on - I think Rick's props did say a little on the subject in another thread.

I remember someone saying that there are internal LEDs and that it was a pain in the ass to get the LEDs to be durable enough to be thrown around.

Personally, I kinda liked the old discs. I don't like the new discs with the hole in the middle. It looks too much like an aerobie (remember those?) The aerobie was supposed to be an upgraded frisbee, but those who play ultimate frisbee or us more classic people liked the old tron disc because it was like a regular frisbee (even the games that they played, Ram's tricks, and how the disc was thrown was frisbee like).... The aerobie frisbee was, IMO, a failed frisbee upgrade and copying that look may not have been the best of ideas.

but here's hoping the story is what people focused on and not the special effects :thumbsup

Here is the real location of FLYNN's arcade. I work about 2 miles from here and everytime I drive by this place I want it to be FLYNN's so badly!!

What is it? It looks like an empty building... I'd hate to think it would be purchased and demolished for a parking lot or something... :rolleyes

This is an older pic. I think a restaurant is there now.
