I see that the game's graphics are 'bout the same as what we saw in the flick.
Heh.
On a side note, maybe it's just me, but couldn't take my eyes off of Quorra everytime she appeared on screen.
Ive seen Olivia Wilde on several episodes of House, but she never looked this good.
As a back story element, its good, but the controls are pretty twitchy. I got pretty annoyed by that, but the story kept me going. The game takes place in 1989 and details the events leading to CLU's taking over.
Why would you ever hire the son of a guy who lied and stole his way to the top?
The sequel needs Dillinger, Sark and his son, against Flynn, Sam and Tron.
i think the entire film is on YouTube, so Im sure people can get access to it, but yeah, dumb Disney.
I think Disney may have shot themselves in the foot with one of their marketing strategies.
I saw Tron: Legacy with a friend of mine last Friday, but my wife didn't show interest in seeing the film until after I saw it.
She saw the original film when she was little, but barely remembers it. She said she wanted to see the new film but only after seeing the original Tron.
So I've been checking everywhere to get a copy of Tron on DVD....Apparently it's out of print and the only copies to be found are online, and they usually go for about $100!!
Netflix never has it in stock and it's supposedly also scarce at Blockbuster.
So while doing these DVD searches I stumbled across a news story regarding the BluRay release of Tron.
Apparently Disney was planning on releasing a new , remastered special edition of Tron on BR to coincide with the release of the new film.
After the film was remastered they test screened it to a group of people....During the screening there was supposedly laughter from people who thought the FX were silly.
As a result, Disney was terrified that it would effect the new film's performance so they decided to appease the morons from the test audience (who apparently can't get past the vintage FX) and opted to release Tron on BR sometime in 2011 .
Now, if anyone has been looking at the box office numbers for the new tron film, they'll notice that it hasn't been doing too well. Supposedly it will be lucky to break even (Which may mean no sequel)
I think Disney was stupid in holding off on the BR release of the old film. l
As a result of this embargo we have a bunch of new generation viewers who probably have no clue what Tron is about, and have virtually no access to the original film. How does Disney expect to get viewers in seats, when the main movie going demographic is prevented from seeing the foundation film for this sequel?
The main core audience are probably people in their late 30's who have already seen the original Tron (which makes up a small portion of the average movie going demographic). I believe the main movie goers are ages 17-25.
I dunno, I think this was a stupid move on Disney's part, and probably a big reason for the low box office numbers...Any thoughts?
Gem transformed into a sentry
"She gets blown up in the end of line club with Castor but towards the end when Clu was giving his invasion speech there was a close up of a Sentry that was definitely female, pale and pink lip gloss. It looked like Gem. Did anyone notice this?"
"I...didn't think that was female. I was a bit perplexed by that though. I was like, "why are we zooming in on random sentry? ..
I'm tempted to start a "Jet Lives" movement, to see if the writers will include Jethro "Jet" Bradley from the "Tron 2.0" game as a character in the next film. I mean, we know that Lora and Alan got married in the "Tron: Legacy" version of the story. You mean that after all those years, they didn't have a kid? Flynn had a son a year after the events in the first film and he didn't even have a girlfriend he mentioned in the first film. Why not give Sam a friend his same age, someone who can practically be a brother? It'd make sense that Jet would be working for Encom like his folks, thus be able to help out Sam in his annual prank on the company (and probably even helped out in the one Sam pulled off in the start of the film). Plus, having him involved with the next one would be a great tie-in for the next film for connecting the first film, having a Flynn and a Bradley against a Dillenger.
Of course, this is wishful thinking.
Call it overkill, but I've seen it 3 times and will probably make a fourth on New Years Day when some friends and I make a trip to see it in IMAX down in St. Louis.
As an aside, there's going to be a CG animated show on Disney XD called Tron: Uprising.
In a week and a half it made 70 Million with a budget of 300 Million. DVD/Blu-ray should be big.
It should have a sequel. They'll adjust the budget accordingly.
