This may seem a bit odd, but did anyone else notice the pillow that Kevin used in the movie? I haven't seen a cloth 3d hexagonal pattern. Perhaps we can identify the material to make the prop. :cool

so the hexagonal fabric you can find it in SPORTS fabrics. Most of them come from CHINA. So if you are not trustworthy of ordering from China, then.. oh well.
Otherwise just google for it you can find it.

It's a soft material with a raised hexagon pattern that's white with black accents. At least that's what I remember.

Sadly that's all I could grab from my copy. They did look alot better in the theater though. I kinda know what it looks like just can't explain it more than he did.

Yeah, that's it. The first time we only see one pillow and the second we see two. I didn't post that shot because the resolution is too bad to see the fabric properly. :ninja

In meditation, specifically Zen Buddhist meditation, the "floor pillow" is known as a zabuton (mat) and the "butt pillow" is a zafu (cushion). I have been searching but cannot find any design similar to the one in the movie for the zafu and zabuton covers. (basically designer covers over a decent buckwheat hull filled zafu core and kapok filled zabuton mat) Awesome stuff. (note: Jeff Bridges is a dedicated and practicing Soto Zen Buddhist) The Zen "one-liners" were great stuff in the movie...

Watching the released dvd, the scene where CLU touches the pillow, it looks to me as though the hex' pattern moves across the surface as CLU plucks at it. I would guess from this, and from the appearance of the close up image where KF is sitting on the pillows, where the hex' pattern looks like it's cutting a little into the pillow, that we're looking at two layers; a regular, white underlayer, e.g. heavy cotton, canvas or burlap, etc. and a polyester/nylon black mesh over the top. It would be the kind you sometimes find as packaging for impact protection equipment for skating, boarding etc., as an example.
