Got my black vinyl today! Gonna use to old logo vinyl piece that came with the pager as a template. I'll post pics soon.

Ooooo, an ENCOM logo on the pager while not screen accurate would still be pretty cool!

RPF member Noble was kind enough to send me a couple sheets of black adhesive backed vinyl(Completely free!) to finish my Alan Bradley pager. So, in order to pay it forward I want to offer a big enough piece to finish off your pager to anyone that needs some.

If you would like a piece please shoot me this info:

RPF screen name

Name

Address

1.) I won't be pre cutting these for you so you will need to do this yourself. A couple of tips I learned while doing mine is that you can cut the piece so that it is really close to fitting the section that needs to be covered.

2.) Clean the pager face with some isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry.

3.) Peel the back off the vinyl and apply it to the section that needs to be covered.

4.) Now you will have some vinyl overhang or flash if you will. Take a t shirt or a soft cloth(Helps keep your fingernail from indenting the vinyl) and use your fingernail to *gently press* the vinyl up against the inner lip of the edge. Now you should be able to see the edge all the way around really well. Take an exacto knife and *carefully* (We don't want to see the "Look what I did to my hand!" thread) and trace the inner lip all the way around, pointing the edge of the blade out and into the corner edge of the lip. Pointing the blade out and into the corner of the edge will help keep the blade from cutting where you don't want it to. After cutting the excess off you should be able to take your t shirt or soft cloth and press the vinyl all the way flush with the lip so it gives it a nice and clean edge. Hope this helps.

A simple way to transfer the pager number to the screen, down load a digital font to your pc. In word or publisher, print out the font, should be a 12.5 to 13 size font depending on the individual font. 415-494-8007 on an ink jet printer.

Once it prints out, take a piece of clear scotch tape and gently press it to the print out on the paper. Carefully pull it off, it can lift the paper off if you press too hard or are not careful in pulling the tape up. It should pull the ink onto the clear tape.

Set the tape against the pager window, lining up the lifted print. Remember, the number should be facing down towards the clip. Use an exacto knife to carefully cut the extra side off, watching the tape up to the sides of the pager window. Use a dull knife edge to carefully push down the tape so that there is no fogging or bubbling from the center to the edge of the pager window.

You should have a nice fake pager window showing the screen number.

The recessed section where the logo sticker goes is 1 1/8 x 2 11/16 inches. Corners are slightly rounded.

The pager's dimensions are roughly 2 7/8 x 1 7/8 x 1 1/4 w/clip, and 13/16 of and inch without the clip.

Hope that helps.

@Megs: nope, also tried fox.

I've found a Bravo Plus here in germany(!) on ebay, yay - received it, and it was also a unused and brand new one, that layed at someone's home over the years in the box.

Anyway, here's the Encom 80's Logo for your Pager and it's in 600 dpi, you can take this to a print shop and let it cut from a dull silver vinyl sheet. The size is 5 x 1,55 cm large (1,97 x 0,61 in)

EDIT:
I've converted my Logo Inkscape File into a Plotter File:

And SVG File:
