Trek Classic Medical Scanner Mark I

Not to split hairs :) butttttt…

The arrow points to polymer injection point at the center of the cover/ cap to produce the clear cover/cap.

I suspect they used a clear cap from a pump spray bottle/container of some consumer product. That being my suspicion, then no, it’s not “everything” as the actual prop…imo.

That is not in the plastic

If you have ever seen the props used in TOS you would not want them trust me

It looks like the divet is in the aluminum cap of the spinner. View attachment 1940284View attachment 1940285

Yeah, much more pronounced. Definitely looks like it could be either way. I watched the video a couple of times to see if I could tell if that center dot was wobbling/rotating. Hard to tell, but in the few frames where it's close to Chekov's hand, I think you can see it rotating with the spinner which would indicate it's part of the aluminum drum.

I meant to reply to this earlier.
It actually is four ribs on the TrekClassic scanner. It’s just that there’s a small lip on the outsides of the four ridges so there’s some extra lines. That lip isn't as raised as the ribs. so it's like the curved part flattens out and then with a small inset the 4 ribs are embossed on it.

Yeah…I couldn’t resist.

From a machining standpoint the divot could be an artifact of the aluminum spinner being turned between centers on a lathe. The divot coming from the center drill. On the other hand the "bump" could come from turning the aluminum spinner in a chuck on the lathe and "facing" the "top" surface with a cutter that did not go all the way to dead center.

The motor is encased inside the spinning acrylic drum. The hole in the aluminum top is where the spinning shaft of the motor links into the metal disc and acrylic drum, to make it spin.

Conceivably a cover/cap something like this, is what I’m thinking the prop makers used….larger in size maybe…and of some clear material obviously.

Similar means of manufacturing is evident in my opinion….Desilu used a cover/cap from a container…I’m convinced. Trek Classic is not the same…..ergo “everything” is not the same….imo. Yeah I know…tomatoes tahmatos,

My Trek Classic Medical Scanner showed up today, a day earlier than the tracking said. I gotta say… I’m so glad I pulled the trigger on this! You’ve probably seen the extended unboxing video on this, but the packaging is so nice. Sturdy box, great graphics, and a really professional presentation. I received number 65. The scanner function is nice and smooth and the sound FX are very nice. You can hear the motor slightly but the medical scan sound pretty much drowns it out. I will say, in my small enclosed photo studio the motor is more pronounced than out in the open, just in case you notice it’s louder than I described.

I snapped some photos and a couple of videos. I’m really happy to finally have this replica in my collection.

The original was custom-made from acrylic, it was definitely not a found product cap. The feature visible on top that you're calling out is actually beneath the outer acrylic cap, where the motor spindle is protruding through the top of the inner cylinder. It's not a molding dimple like on a bottle cap.

I would've noticed if the outer acrylic cover was a found bottle cap when I examined it, and it definitely wasn't. That definitely would've gotten my attention.

Nice! Congrats!
What's that sound in your first video? Is that coming from the tricorder? Or did you just record it on a personal log or something?
