What an awesome Maverick cosplay, thank you so much for the helmet tutorial. I'm trying to do a Maverick costume too, and I was wondering where you got the harness / pouches that you wear over the flight suit?

The harness is called MA-2, and the "pouches" are in fact a survival vest, that goes over the harness and is called a Sv-2B (that exists in 2 versions : jet and helicopter. Be careful about the one you take). Attached to the Sv-2B is a life preserver called Lpu-23

Question, what type of flight suits did Tom Cruise and company use in the film? And also the boots he wore when he was in his flight suit plus gear?

Flight suits would have been a Nomex CWU 27/P. That style hasn't changed. If they kept to regulations for boots, they should have been black leather steel toed flight boots. Basically a combat boot. It's been a while since I've watched to movie, I'd have to look and see if they give a good shot of the boots to tell what they have on.
