Tony Stark Briefcase? Accurate?

Yes, I used the search feature. Found nothing :lol

I'm thinking of getting the tony stark brief case that keeps showing up in the ads at the top of the RPF page. (DAMN YOU ART ANDREWS!!!!) The one offered by Museum Replicas.

Iron Man 2 Tony Stark Mark V Briefcase Replica - Museum Replicas - Iron Man - Prop Replicas at Entertainment Earth

Does anyone have any insight into its accuracy? Seen any comparisons between screen caps, publicity photos, and product photos?

I would ACTUALLY use it for work, and think it would be really great. But of course, I'm a stickler for accuracy. Thoughts?

Why not a fan of Museum Replicas? Do they have a track record of low quality? Inaccuracy? Details man, details!

I've been looking at that briefcase myself to use on a daily basis as well. My primary concern is Museum Replicas have a hit and miss QA department and for this much money I'd like to (at the very least) get some feedback from folks who actually have one in hand.
As far as accuracy, I'm not too concerned as it didn't get a whole lot of screen time. It just looks cool!

Same boat. I would say this: Accuracy detail sacrifices were, indeed, made to make this suitcase real-world-use efficient. When it comes to this prop, I'd like to have it more as a prop-replica than work suitcase.

They have a track record of really awesome looking prototypes because they are made here in the US and then the final product not looking anything like the prototype because it is done overseas. I know this is how most companies operate, but it seems like with most there is minimal difference between the master and the final product. With Museum Replicas this isn't always the case.

Yes this is what happened with the helmets, the prototypes looked very good then what they shipped were garbage. Case inpoint just look at the Mark 1 lid they sold, not even close to the RD had to build one myself to get it accurate. :unsure Here's a pic to show how off they were, I can remove it if you'd rather it not be in this thread just for refrence on how off they really get.

I wouldnt buy anything from museum replicas....Their prototype pictures looks nothing like the final products....poorly made items....they made the cyclops visors and the iron man helmets...cheaply made...not worth the prices the list them for

What if, someone made some templates/tutorial which can be applied (double-sided or screwed onto) to other briefcases?

I wouldn't know because I am using those Storm cases on and off, which is hard to stick anything onto it. (But my daughter's Snow White stickers won't come off in one piece, though :lol)

Has anyone actually got one of these yet? I've had one on pre-order since last year and haven't heard anything. There's rumours it's been cancelled. If so, does anyone know why?

Got one on order through BBTS. Supposedly shipping in February. I'll post a review and pics when it arrives (assuming it does actually arrive, of course.)

Just got an email from BBTS:

Hi - Museum Replicas has just informed us that this item has been cancelled due to quality concerns, and as a result they will not be able to fill our orders. We apologize for the inconvenience. We have cancelled all preorders and removed the item from our site.

:(:(:(:(

Weren't there also some problems with the finishes on their iron man helmets? Tarnishing or flaking or something like that.

Maybe the briefcases were suffering from the same problems and they decided to nix it rather than deal with the customer service problem.

I realize this is an older thread and I'm sure Mr. Munson is too busy with his Batmobile to care about this any longer, but I just got this briefcase. It's pretty decent for a display piece. Not sure about USING it as a real briefcase, though. It is fully functional, with a standard interior with pen holders, pockets, etc., but it's very heavy and the whole thing is painted with a high-gloss clear coat, so if you used it, you'd definitely scratch the hell out of it. A couple smaller pieces on the sides are just glued-on plastic bits. The actual outer case feels a bit plasticky, even though the description of the piece claims it's made out of aluminum. Paint application is a bit haphazard, with some of the red paint oversprayed onto the silver portions. There are some scratches on mine on the base coat level. The clear coat covers them so I can't feel the scratches, but I see them in the red layer. It's very minor, though, and only in one corner. Like I said, it's a pretty cool display piece, but I don't know about being functional on a day-to-day basis. You'd have Schwarzenegger arms in no time if you carried this thing all day.

From what I can tell from screen grabs, it's pretty accurate to the prop. The two metal clasps on top don't appear to be on the movie prop, but they're here to actually make this a usable, lockable briefcase. If you add a handcuff on a chain to this, it would look pretty spot on.

My wife bought it for me as a surprise. She bought from eBay. She's been keeping an eye out on eBay for months after I put it on my wishlist and one popped up finally a few weeks ago. The same seller that she bought from listed another one on eBay. It's up right now for $799. The guy has over 16000 positive feedbacks, so relatively trustworthy. And I can personally attest to the quality of the product. Do a search for iron man briefcase and it'll pop up. I hate to say this, but I think my wife helped drive the price of these up. The same seller sold THREE of these briefcases on April 26th and 27th for $499, one of which was mine. Now he's listing for $799, seeing an obvious market...

I'll try and post some pics of mine tonight so if anyone is interested in buying the one currently on eBay, they'll have a good idea of the quality of the item.
