Tombstone Revolvers?

Conversely you could just buy the real guns and watches and such :) I have the newspaper from the day of the shoot out, a few rifles and some Arizona ranger badges, But I had to take the display down a bit ago when I was out of town...lock it up and all. So pardon the boring display.:redface

Great idea. I do have my pistol permit. I have had it for years, but never bought a pistol. Those would be pretty expensive. I like the coin idea, what years are those silver dollars?

From left to right 1928,1900,the small one is a 1912 2 1/2 dollar gold coin, 1886, 1998. I really can't comment on price, all of this belonged to my great grandfather. He worked for the railroad the watches are real Elgin, and the guns were used on the job...:) The silver dollars are Morgen's and Peace dollars..cost about 20$ each. Its kind of cool to think who might have held them at one time :) But i know you can get the colt remakes for 599$ new, and half that for used.

The only "real" gun i have seen or read about wyatt carrying was a Schofield.......

Kurt Russel was seen carrying a Schofield in the movie also, In the scenes where he's ridging and meets upo with Dana Delany's Character he's got the Schofrield on his belt.

lets see......
Im sure my knowledge is nowhere near that of Wakal but ill take a stab...

"Doc" had two Colt SAA (Single Action Armys) both with short 4 3/4" barrels. Both appeared to be nickel plated, however one of them, his "left hand gun" had a birds head grip instead of the standard grip....

Actualy, you are half correct. One pistol was a Colt SA, the other was a Colt "Lightning" DA pistol. So now you know.

Yep, those are the two guns on the bottom of the picture. One is which is a "American Express" edition issue no.736, issued to the folks that protected their shipments. BTW DA is double action.

David - yup.

The lightning was Colt's first (or one of their first) forays into double action. According to a gunsmith friend if you own one, "hope it never breaks" - it's one of the few guns he'll flat out refuse to work on, 'cause of all the fiddly little parts. Which given how much of a mess the monkey motion going on in the later Colt double actions he will work on is, that's saying something.

Sure are purty though. :)

well.... cimmaron makes lightening replicas too...

no no, i KNOW what a lightening is.... i just didnt think thats what i was seeing on screen...

Cimmaron sells their own line of Uberti replicas, which are fully functional guns..... in some cases even better than the originals

The only documented Earp gun is a 5 1/2 barrel Colt Saa he borrowed I think when in dodge city..but let's not let history get in the way of fun..Costner used a 7 1/2 & 5 1/2 Colt in his movie ..Quaid used a storekeeper version..they also used Arvo Ojala RIGS, not period but great holsters that look good for gunfighters ! ! I never got bothered about how correct something was when I watched movies or tv as a kid & luckily that's stayed with me, even though I am well up on western firearms ! !

For the real info on the Guns of Tombstone. Look at Peter Sherayko's book on the topic. He provided the Guns and Gear for the film, plus played the character Texas Jack Vermillion. This book is the definitive one. Here's the Amazon.com link: http://tinyurl.com/y84fx7vx

WOW, I totally forgot about this thread. And yes, Peter's Tombstone book is great. Actually he has published two books on authenticity in Westerns.
