Tomb Raider Reborn

IronNeoo - Hah! I appreciate the compliment. :lol

Wes R - I just discovered that last night. I'm really debating on getting it, though as far as I know a friend of mine is actually carving one for me out of jade. But I'm tempted to get the one from the strategy guide as a backup, just in case.

Lara must have a really small neck in the game as the brown lacing they included seems to way too short. It's a heavy metal piece though.

Hmm, that's rather frustrating that the pendants are so drastically different. Anyone know if she gets another pendant later in the game, and that would be the guide one?

Anyway, here's an intial sculpt I'm doing for LadyNerd!:

Doing some cleaning up and then I'm going to cast it in resin. Might try tinting the resin to have a cloudy, dark jade effect.

Derp, forgot to post my reference photo...I'm sure this might have been posted earlier in this thread...but I'm posting it again :p

She found that piece when she was 5 on a dig with her parents.
It was her first find and she was in penguin pajamas.

You will find differences in style and size depending on your source (artwork, screen caps, licensed piece)

Celtic Ruins - I was totally about to post that picture too to show off your ridiculous sculpting talents but you beat me to it! (Seriously ridiculous folks, I put out a call this morning for help making a necklace and not only did Nadine answer, but sculpted not one, but TWO pendants!)

I'm thinking the size of the pendant shouldn't be too large (like the strategy guide one feels too big to me), but not too small either. I like the size the koru pendant was for my Momocon Lara Croft costume. Though next time I'll raise the twine. It was a bit too low.

Division 6 - Ah, I needed closeups! Another friend gave me a couple of similar screenshots, but I couldn't make out the detail well (and the shots he gave me made the pants look dark brown). I think I'm going to stay as fairly monochromatic as possible with my costume as that seems to be what reads the best in all the different renditions of costumes I've seen thus far.

Lizard Jedi - I had switched to using green pants there for a while too. Perhaps instead of doing fully costume pants, you could find a pair that's close enough and then alter them accordingly.

I'm debating whether to keep my shirt intact and just dirty it up or actually rip it. Hmmmm....*rubs chin*

Wes R - Interesting. The pendant is so different from the one in the game! Still, thanks for the pictures. Those are very clear.

I was told there was zero mention of where she got the pendant in the entire game.

Question - Does Lara use gauze or stripped linen for bandages? I'm trying to figure out which one to purchase (and more importantly, where to get it the cheapest!).

Greylocke - Windex, eh? I can't say I've heard of using that method before. How does that differ than just using water to iron down the pockets?

It's an old trick from when I was in the army. We weren't allowed to starch our new field uniforms because the starch would destroy the anti IR/UV properties, but we were still required to iron them and many commanders wanted nice sharp creases, hence the Windex. It has a safe type of starch for cleaning glass that wouldn't affect the IR/UV treatment, but would give you some halfway decent creases.

Best guess would be linen
since there are only 2 first aid kits and one of them is empty.

So I started playing through the game last night and I realised a few things...

1) I put my photoshoot/Version 2.0 of the costume at a specific point in the game (where she has the makeshift bow), but I didn't realise she also has the walkie talkie and a watch at that time too. So now I've got to go procur those somehow. Anyone know where I can get those on the cheap?

2) The designs/artwork I was originally basing my costume off (that I put earlier in this thread) had arrows in holster, like a kind of hip quiver. I wanted to go that route as it would save me having to make a quiver. But nooo....that doesn't work. The gun is 8 inches. The arrows are 29 inches. So now I have to make a quiver by next Saturday.

Also, does anyone know good/easy distressing techniques for getting my clothes dirty and beat up looking? One friend has suggested running over the clothes with my car. (Another question, how to keep the dirt/distressed look. Would any washing make it come off?)

If you want something nearly permanent, try artist charcoal. It comes in many colors. Grind it up and smear it on. I've had a HELL of a time getting charcoal out of my pants when I used to use it in art school...so I ended up using it as a distressing agent.

Some types of makeup won't wash out either.

For dirty clothes I use spray paint.
Mist it on wait a few minutes then throw it under running water and go over it with a Scotchbrite pad.

I posted the correct Walkie earlier.
Finding the correct version will probably be difficult. I've only seen one for sale.

The watch is a G-Shock so it will be pricey and I haven't identified the correct model yet.

Closest I have found was an image on Ioffer but it was gold instead of yellow.
