Tomb Raider Reborn

im thinking that the arrows are the same, they both have the angled stripes (maybe black or dark blue) on the fletching; and they both have the smooth spade style arrow head. intriguing, loses her bow but still has the arrows? :facepalm

LizardJedi - Mm, as far as I know Prismacolor markers (as well as Copic) are alcohol-based. (I have to use them extensively for my job). But either way, I'm thinking I need to go for a darker grey. Good luck on the shirt! I'm still hunting for a white cami, preferably with a built in bra. That seems to be harder to find than one would think.

Metal Wood - I would imagine she'd upgrade to a new bow as soon as she could find it as no doubt the stick one would bend out of shape after enough uses (especially since she threw it together, it wouldn't have the same thought-through structure like a real bow would). That's my theory anyway on how she still has the arrows.

Found these this morning.

Division 6, you always come through with the best screencaps and finds. :)
I hadn't seen that quiver before. Since the costume doesn't quite look right without the drop-leg holster, I'm going to stick my arrows in there, like in this concept art piece.

In other news, my new Timberland boots arrived yesterday and they fit perfectly! No more trying to squeeze my foot into a boot that's a size and a half too small. Now to find pants...

On note bandages, what would be best to use? Should I just use gauze strips from Walgreens?

Wow this costumes is turning out great!
I love the idea of the drop-leg arrow holster
its something different from anyone else with a bow and really stands out

everything has been dead on so far and I cant wait to see more!
Keep up the good work

gauze wont last, better to use something like canvas; will last longer and can easily be manipulated to fit the designs you are going for. just an idea.

Been doing archery since I could stand. To make some arrows that are cheap, and do not cost a lot, use dowels. 32 inch at the longest but if you want to size them to you, place the dowel against your sternum, then stretch both your hands out to touch at the same place on the dowel. I figure if you are about 5'9 - I think anywhere between 28 inches to 30 would be fine. If using dowels remember they will be dangerous to actually fire because depending on the poundage of the bow, the string will shatter the dowel. The dowel needs to be about 11/32 of an inch. This size is good for the later step of cutting down the nock.

As to fletching hint, those feathers are called turkey fletching. Better to buy these through an online archery place. They come in either left wing or right wing. No real difference, if you aren't actually shooting. Measure evenly around the shaft, put a dot and that is where you will glue down the back of the feather. Do the back of the fletch first so they look sweet and even when in your quiver. Once the back is down glue the fronts. Again, since this is for show and not usable, superglue is acceptable.

To cut a nock into your arrow is quite easy, but sometimes so easy you forget to check its orientation to the fletching and you mess up the flight. Get three standard hacksaw blades and duck tape together. This is how wide your nock will be. Looking at the back of your arrow turn it so there is a feather on top right and bottom right and one sticking straight out 90 degrees to the left. Your nock will need to match the horizontal feather. This is assuming you are right handed. Just eyeball the centre of the back end of dowel and drag hacksaws across to start cut. The depth of the nock is not much..like 1/4 inch.

I 'll try to post some pictures to help in bit.

Here are a few pics to help...

Neat little field point, however finding broad heads like the one in the picture will be a little more pricey. You will probably need to find some through historical replicas...maybe look for replicas with the key words "Mary rose"? It was a ship that was found with a lot of archery items from king Henry viii reign. I'm sure a few broad heads were on that. Modern broad heads are really deadly and quizzically enough..fragile. Avoid these.

Here is the field point that is pretty cheap, but also near looking.

As for the ties that bind the nock area, I suggest artificial sinew. It looks really rustic, is fairly cheap, and does an excellent job. If I have the time I'll make a quick video about how to tie the back end proper.

Good luck!

I picked up some braided cord last night at Hobby Lobby for the necklace. It may be too thick, but I'll find once I actually put it on. How do you guys think Lara's necklace is attached? The cord is bound like a shoelace end, so I'm going to have to attach it somehow. Thoughts?

On-a-Cord 3mm Chocolate Round Braided Leather Cord | Shop Hobby Lobby (I bought two of them, just in case.)

Still no luck on finding pants. Does anyone happen to know what brand they modeled Lara's pants after? (Like her boots being Timberland Charles street boots) I've gone to every store in the greater Atlanta area that would have cargo pants (Old Navy, Goodwill, thrift stores, department stores, etc.) and I'm coming up with nothing.

seancoleman - Thank you! I wondered about putting the arrows in the holster (to save me having to buy a gun at this point). So I was quite ecstatic when I stumbled across that piece of concept art.

Rue - That was very informative and very helpful. Thank you for posting that. I'll get started on those arrows in the next couple of days and post my progress.

The ends of the necklace are attached to the jade piece.
They look to be back woven into the cord making an eyelet that goes around the pendant.

For ease of removal perhaps having one side hooked would work since it appears to be to tight to just pull over her head to remove.

Do you happen to have a picture that shows a closeup of the pendant/necklace in terms of where the attachment would be? I can only find pieces of concept art. Thanks!

My current dilemma, besides finding pants, is what to do about the white tank top underneath. Ideally, I'd love to find a white spaghetti strap tank top with a built in bra (as 1) the white straps underneath Lara's tank top definitely belong to a cami and not a sports bra as previously thought 2) strapless bras are a pain to be active in and 3) I'm going to need some kind of bra!). So now, I'm debating taking a white cami with lining and sewing a strapless bra or cups in there (as it would seem it's nigh impossible to find such a shirt in stores or that's not at least $50).

I'm still getting stuck on the pants route. I'm beginning to think they don't make the right colour/fit of cargo pants for my size. I can find them in anything BUT my size! I did find these fitted pants today, though now looking at the concept art and trailer/gameplay, I think they're too green and tight in the legs. *sigh* (Forgive the quality of the photos, I couldn't turn the ISO up any higher on my camera)

What do you guys think?

Ah well, I'm still going to wear the heck out them. They're very comfy!

Still working on finding the tank top. Can anyone find a good ebay link? I'm finding nothing in my local Goodwill stores.

LOL Marry me? LOL!! Great work!

IronNeoo - Hah! I appreciate the compliment. :lol

Wes R - I just discovered that last night. I'm really debating on getting it, though as far as I know a friend of mine is actually carving one for me out of jade. But I'm tempted to get the one from the strategy guide as a backup, just in case.

I have the guide and art of books on order, i can snap a pic for you when it arrives so you can see what it looks like.

Should be getting the game tomorrow, getting the Survival package with the figure, tin and other goodies.

Thanks Division 6! Yet again, you are an invaluable resource.

I made a discovery last a little bit ago, that Lara actually sports some earrings.

Now, I don't have pierced ears, so this is a bit tricky. I know there's those fake lip rings I might be able to use. My only worry is that they might fall off, especially if I'm being active (or getting caught in my hair). I did find these, but I'm unsure. Thoughts?
