Tomb Raider Reborn

TSD do an airsoft pistol which is almost identical to the upgraded model, the trigger is just a bit different, and there are no finger contours, plus the upper part of the barrel could be painted silver if you want to be uber accurate, but overall I think it's a pretty close match - (Pyramydair.com

Still on the lookout for more accurate pistols though :)

I've been looking at one of these myself and it's sad that it doesn't have the competition trigger. The really close and i will probably end up going with it and adding either the flash supressor or the silencer to it and call it a day.

I actually prefer the look of the brown grips... If the flashlight is removable, I think I may need to talk someone into shipping one of those to NZ! :unsure

There are some dark brown Timberlands around at the moment, they only come in size UK7.5 (Think that's about US9.5?) - Timberland Charles ST Womens Boot ( 54352 - W1 ) W/L | eBay They're supposed to run on the narrow side, so if you have wide feet the larger sizes aren't necessarily a disadvantage. Thick socks and tight lacing will help them to fit properly too.

Fabric samples from NYFabrics arrived today! :D

The swatches against the white envelope are my favourite options. They're 'khaki' and 'nutmeg', both in cotton duck canvas. The khaki is actually much more of an olive than the picture (which was just taken on my phone) shows, I'd say it's an olive-brown. Nutmeg is a deep gold-brown. If I had to make a decision right now I'd say the Khaki, since with dirtying up it'll become more of a brown, and it photographs well. I also think it looks nicer with the grey. I think the nutmeg just may be too 'ocre' coloured. They fabric is also 10oz, so is heavy duty and will take weathering well. Now to check out some more local stores, then decide what to do.

The grey is is milliskin matte spandex in 'steel', thought I may as well get a sample of that to see what it's like, and it's definitely the right colour for the top (though I think the in-game top is more of a jersey-knit?). A shame there isn't a darker shade of grey that could be used for the edging on the top, but that'll be easy enough to colour manually.

I'm reasonably sure the light is removable. If it isn't then I guess I'd not be out that much... 10 dollars shipped is pretty cheap. I may just go for it and then report back to you on how it works out.

Hmmm.. I didn't notice before though that the magazine floorplate looks sort of funny on that one. It ought to be flat but it has a strange shape to it.

also the screw holes all in the one side would all have to be filled in. I dunno... maybe the other one above mine is better even though the trigger is different.

Wish we could have it all in one :p

There is this option:

Blueguns: Train Safe and Train Smart - FSPX9105ML SPRINGFIELD OPERATOR 1911-A1

Blue guns are totally Con safe.. solid and easy to paint. I may just do this instead. They're also lightweight but totally solid so they don't feel cheap in your hand.

I would advise anyone going to cons in the near future to use the blue guns. Boston already started coming down hard on cosplayer props, and we don't need other cons across the nation doing flat bans on anything even remotely gun shaped like they did. And remember that whether you like it or not, all fake guns must have the muzzle painted orange. We can still use airsoft/real guns (yay for the Taurus 1911!) for photoshoots, but for con carry, let's all try to switch to the solid ones, for the sake of security guards everywhere.

EDIT: Woah, just looked at that Play Arts Kai figure. Do ya think they could emphasized her breasts a little bit more? I mean, that's full old school Croft right there. Dayum.

Also, did anyone come to a consensus on her shirt color? I'm convinced that it's blue still.

Not really that big.
What you are seeing is the flex point separation right under the breasts.

I think the largest of the smaller figures I have is the NECA Anniversary figure but they are all fairly small, even the Chell (Portal) figure.

I may just go with the TSD, and find a way to modify the trigger to make it look more accurate (not so much interested in a working pistol as long as it looks the part!).

A lot of the concept art and the first trailers show it as light blue, but the in-game shirt is more of a smokey grey. Guess it just depends what version you're wanting to do!

I vote Grey..

Of course that could be because mine is Grey :p

But I think the ingame look is the way to go for most of us. It's a personal choice.

Lighting sucks sometimes.

But the trailer version defiantly has an aqua-hue to it. The in game one still has a bluish-grey shade to it. Once everything get's wet and dirty though, all the colors get muddled out.

Did a bit of shopping today, found some sports jersey in the right shades for the tops. 2 shades of grey, and white.
Also found 2 suitable types of buttons.
The first type is the right size and roughly has the same pattern, while the second type which are slightly larger need antiquing and shank holes drilled, are a far more accurate design (they're jean front buttons).
Unfortunately the first type appeared pewter in the store but are actually brass, so I'm gonna go with the second type. A bit more work, but oh well.
The picture has the buttons with the 3 colours of fabric beneath. The inner side of the fabric is showing, it's much smoother on the other side (fabric swatch for the pants fabric on the left!)

Some screencaps of the rope before Lara attaches it to her belt.

Wrights Cotton Cord 3/8

This is currently my favourite rope, I reckon it's one of the closest options out there. It's tightly woven, 3/8", undyed, speckled, and is cotton (though it may have a polyester core), so it'll be easy to grubby up. Only problem is it doesn't come in 50 foot lengths, it comes in 50 YARD lengths!
Amazon has the cheapest price, but doesn't ship it to NZ. I've found it on another site that will ship here, but it's not discounted, and with shipping added it makes the cost US$45. Still a great price considering that stuff would be about $4-5 per yard here, but there's no way I need that much rope!
We seem to agree on 100ft lengths for Lara's rope, and 1 roll of 100yards of this cord makes the total length 300 ft, enough for 3 people.
Is there anyone here who would be willing to purchase and use this rope for their costume, and split it 2 or 3 ways, depending on interest from others? Each person would obviously pay an equal amount of the total costs to the person making the purchase, and I can then cover the international shipping to get 100ft of it over to NZ.

It's currently $17.54, so if 1 other person bought it, we'd both pay $8.77 (plus half of the shipping costs) each, or if 2 other people want to use it, it would be $5.85, (plus one third of the shipping costs) amongst the 3 of us.

Keen to hear if there's anyone interested :)

On some of the fishing boats down here by where I live, they have a funky weird type of lights on board that makes colors look strange. Unless you are looking at a map/chart. Then the light makes the colors and all the markings stand out. I don't know exactly type of bulb they are using, I've never seen anything like it before, but the light from those bulbs turned my red polo shirt purple, a white t-shirt looked bluish, a yellow t-shirt looked orange. So could it be a lighting issue on the boat? Or just laziness?

The trailer was made by a company in Japan that specializes in high end graphic game trailers.
I don't think they where being lazy.

The game was being reworked all the way up till shipping.
Lara was intended to find a leather jacket (Amelia Earhart's) early in the game but they ran out of time in changing it.
The area she first finds Sam and Mathias is still the Amelia map in the game code.
