toga party Roman/Grecian alternatives?

I've got about a week to prepare something different for a toga party, anyone have any ideas for something like Gladiator/300 costumes of decent quality that can be repainted and added to? I can do some good work but I need a jumping off point...

Any help appreciated, there's a lot of crap out there to sift through

thanks for the ideas, I guess I was thinking more about a chest and back piece, the pauldrons, and maybe shin guards/forearm guards. I can make a tunic and other textile stuff quick, just wanted some armor that I could improve on and use.
