I'll gladly take on the Shuggoth and Baba Yaga, especially since I call one of my cats baba yaga (it's not her name, or even close to it lol)

Also, taking on the Domovoi. One of my favorite episodes.

Thought I'd add Rumplestiltskin to the list as he was mentioned in some research. He'd probably come in as a Goblin but it doesn't hurt to flesh some specifics out so we'll give him his own entry.
 
This is a great idea. Definitely should include Krampus. Great holiday myth. Plus, how about a version with a stamp from Ray's occult books.

That would be very easy to do. What I'll probably end up doing though it making a little book plate that you can glue into your book if you'd like it. Might even make a fake receipt for it. :)

I listened to an interview with Dan Aykroyd tonight and he said something that I thought you guys might find useful.
He strongly recommended the book, "Ghosts" by Hans Holzer. So I looked it up. Here's the blurb from the back cover:

I'll check this out as well! Although it wouldn't be the inspiration for Tobins because it was first published in 1997. ;)

I don't think the actual "Ghosts" book is the inspiration for Tobin's (though I didn't realize it was printed in the 90's) but I'm willing to bet Holzer and his writings are one of the inspirations for Tobin and his guide.

This particular book appears to be a collection of essays he's written and published over the past 30 or so years. He has written over 100 similar books since the 60's.

I've also found a few interviews where Dan directly quotes from some of Holzer's work and he often talks about Holzer himself. Though I could never find any instances of Dan crediting Holzer or his work with anything to do with the Ghostbusters films.

Holzer was famous for his investigation of the Amityville haunting, and there are a few scenes in the first Ghostbusters that are similar to those of the Amityville case (specifically the stuff with Dana).

I purchased the kindle edition and just from reading a little I can certainly see a book like Tobin's being set up this way.
One of the first articles in the book about an actual haunting sounds like something taken from one of the GB films (though a bit less cinematic).

It's about a ghost of a white man dressed in oriental attire that was seen in an apartment building in New York. Holzer details his investigation of the sighting and discovers that this 26 story building was erected by members of a Cult of Eastern mystics as a monument for their High Priest named Rohrach, and it was a hub for their religion for many years. After Rohrach died the cultists split ways and the building was turned into a museum for Rohrach's work then eventually an apartment building.
It has echoes of Ivo Shandor and the cult of Gozer. At least to me it does.

It's less like an encyclopedia but more of a collection of credible eyewitness encounters and interviews supplemented with a large amount of his research. It reads like a series of fascinating detective stories and is grounded in science, history and logic that give it credibility.
