hello amazing prop and costume makers of the RPF, my name is Tim I'm fairly new to the RPF but I've been stocking around for a while now. but I've been making costumes for most of my life but didn't get really serious until about 4 years ago when I discovered the 405th.com and became good friends with a lot of folks there with amazing talent. also got to attend dragon con for the first time last year which was amazing!! but wont be there this year as funds are extremely tight, which has put a serious damper on costume making latly, however, I as many of you came across Evilfx's amazing talent and foam methods for making costumes and I can tell you its very affordable compared to the way I was making costumes so I thought I'd give it a try. I was also able to skip the pattern step and go strait on to building thanks to a good friend of mine (eric) who I met on the 405th and at dragon con who was also emulating evilfx ideas, he is not ready to release any patterns or as far as I know, but when and if will be up to him so please hold off on asking me as I want to respect his wishes.

ok so now on to the pictures which have been my favorite part of this forum!

I first made a duct tape dummy of myself from the help of family members
dont have any pics though but fairly easy to do.
then I started by sizing and printing the pattern and cutting it out

then after purchasing the foam at harbor freight I began to cut some pieces out also while paying close attention to evilfx blog bioweapons.wordpress.com for guidance.

I purchase old bags for 50cents each at a used store and found some at home and retrieved all the buckles and straps I needed.

I've been looking around on google for el wire and I'll continue looking, but there are a lot of suppliers out there if anyone is willing to give there feedback on who they trust, that would be very helpful as I've never tried purchasing the stuff before.

As always, fine work Tim!!!
Please stop building stuff! Every time you make something, it is so epic it makes me want to make one too. So stop! I only have so much desk space!
Cheers,
Brash :lol

Awesome work on the armor, Tim.

I haven't done much with EL, but the place I went with for some was Cool Neon, they worked out well for me, and have been around a while.

I have some of these mats just kicking around...this is too tempting....you and EvilFX make it look so easy.

Great work!

Thanks Loess I think this cool neon will work I especially like there video showing how its done as I'm a visual guy, good to see a lot of friends from the 405th here as well thanks for the support guys, and to answer the one question about shaping, I've heard that people are using heat guns and such but I haven't even used mine yet, not even for the pictures below, I've just used my hands and also it kinda of just takes shape if you leave it on your mannequin for awhile.

So today I did the shoulders I actually made my own pattern for this and it took at least 3 attempts failing before I got it right, I'll leave the attempts out they were pretty sad. also did some small design things. so here is my update

first I designed a shoulder piece for under the main shoulder piece

then the main shoulders and I attached them.

i did some detail work on the shoulders bells just using the dermal and wood carver tool.
