I am excited to announce my newest creation! 1/2 studio scale Palomino from the movie Black Hole. I recently obtained pictures of the studio model in incredible close up! This is what this project finally happen. This kit will be a true multi-media kit. The kit will include solid and roto-cast resin, photo-etch, brass (tube and wire), and decals! I am hoping to have this kit ready by next month. Here is a shot of the engine section parts. To follow the progress of the Palomino and to see more of what is to come go to my new Facebook page for TimeSlip Creations.

Wow, this is gonna be one kit for the serious builder. Just the vision of working on the Cygnus' lattice frame.... Studio scale was 12 feet? So at 6 feet this is still a monster.

That looks like nice work, btw, George. Can't wait to see more. 1/2 scale versus which version of the Palomino though? The stearic acid one? :D

My bad - at the drop of the word "Black Hole" it was the Cygnus that popped into my head straight away! Scoot....scoot.....(face red)...

Dammit, I thought it might have just been a typo but was really REALLY hoping it wasn't! :lol

could some one post the pics here?

i don't do facebook.

At 1/2 the size of the big studio miniature, this replica will be roughly 16 inches tall including the spires on top. It's a very nice size model and it will be great to see a replica of the Palomino come to life. Thanks again to George for making this happen!

I made patterns for this ship a few years back based on the original studio plans that were actually published back in about 1980. Since then, I obtained very clean copies of the original studio blueprints that verified my work to be accurate. We also got some good reference images that were not available before and this helped me nail down the details once and for all.

The size was quite tricky to figure out as the studio model was not necessarily built to the size noted on the plans. Once I had a finished 3D model built in Rhino, my good friend GkVFX and I took the best image we could find that showed a known model part or "greeblie" and scaled the whole thing based on that.

So, we are pretty confident we have the studio-scale version figured out. This model was then scaled to be half that size and re-engineered for strength and to make it practical to build. I think Black Hole fans will be very pleased with the final results! :D

Thanks for filling in the details Charles. I am so excited to finally see this kit come to the light of day.

Thanks Will. You going to get that Firefox done? THAT is the kit I've been waiting for.
