Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

im trying out the threadbanger tut with some green vinyl but i can't get the darn vinyl to not bunch up..tips anyone? anyone go with this method.

i guess while im at it, does anyone have a preference on makeup?

Actually, you might have a chance with the vinyl as I've used non-stretchy fabric while hat making with the threadbanger tutorial. The only change I made was using a lampshade re-covering tutorial to get the right shape to the fabric so it will lay right on the foundation. This is the one I used... YouTube - How to Re-Cover a Lampshade

You'll end up with a 'rainbow' shape like this...

I added an extra inch to the bottom of the pattern so it can be pulled into the bottom of the tube and glued down with a little extra to work with. Using this method I only have one seam on the hat that runs from the top to the bottom and I usually put it on the left side and hide it under the peacock pin since putting it there gives the hat the best curve when looking at it from the front. Always works like a charm for me :)

As for the make-up, I use Mehron Clown White for the face, and for the eyes I just used some eyeshadow I already had at home which I picked up from The Dollar Tree, as well as some white eyeliner and mascara. For the lips I used a tube of Cover Girl lipstain since that stuff stays put ALL day (and sometimes into the next LOL).

Anyone live in LA? I am going to be doing a photoshoot soon and think it would be cool to get together for some community pics. (not just MH's) LMK my buddy is a photographer and wants to do it.

HT hatter hat as well :

Halloween | Hot Topic

I actualy don't think it looks that bad, LOL.

It doesn't look too bad, but it would have been better if the brown would have been a dark green instead. If I didn't already have a hat, I'd probably grab that one and alter it. LOL

ETA - finally finished the FINAL version of my hat (hat to rebuild it after it was crushed) and I also added some splotchy paint work with black and gold paint to bring out some more details. I refuse to touch it anymore out of fear it might burst into flames after all the difficulties I've had with it.

its the same way i made mine and the funny thing is mine was also pink before i painted it !!! think the end result is a mighty fine hat

I finally finished and debuted my Rabbit Hole dress on Friday :)

The dress was made for the Wonderland party (club night) at Gay Days Anaheim this year.

The only change I would make is making my sleeves longer, and repairing the back of the dress where someone stepped on it and ripped it :(
(thankfully on a seam)

The shoes held up great-the vinyl paint held up pretty well.
There are now creases in the toes from walking, but no chipping, no cracking, and no paint loss.
:)

Oh,Scarlett! It's so beautiful! And this gown fit you so well! Congrats with debute!

I used the same technique for mine. Not sure if I posted in works pix or not but here is mine in progress.

I used a modified simplicity pattern. It came with one of the generic hatter and clown costumes for ladies. I cut the crown in the center extending it by around 6 inches or so.

Cut the leather.

A little more paint was added after these light coats. All I need to do is the embroidery gold stitching.(don't plan to engrave this version. I'll do that on 2.0) Then I can put it together. Using formed plastic for the framework. TAPS store in town here usually has decent scraps out back.

Holy crap! looks amazing!!! Very clean and crisp! Great work!

I think you should pin the wig to a wighead and hairspray it upside down though to keep those side from drooping. :)

good job there MrPinski !!! really is looking good wouldn't it be so cool if there was a chance of us all going for a night out all dressed up in our wonderland costumes !! that would be one crazy mad night !!!
